Supped a few pints in here again on 28th September. Set up is the same as it always was, but the food 'push' cited in rpadam's review seemed more obvious. Like a lot of bars on the continent, the feel is becoming more of a restaurant serving beer rather than the UK model a pub serving food . Still, like other Berlin brewhouses such as Mitte, non-diners tend to be accommodated around the bar.

Modern brew-pub under the railway arches. Four different brews on, including the tasty Original (quite a dark brown lager). Not bad, but I didn't find the waiter very helpful once it was established that the menu wasn't required.

Made pilgrimage to this brewpub during autumn break in Berlin. The pub appears to have been extended since my last visit, but otherwise the brews and food menu is unchanged. Could not believe I was recognised again after three years! The pils was excellent and so was Original. Enjoyed the special brew for Oktoberfest. There was only room to sit at the bar on my arrival suggesting the brewpub must be doing something right. Food recommendation: try the Nrnberg sausages with sauerkraut and "bratkartoffel" (fried potato pieces with onion). Delicious, and goes well with the "Original"

This one, I think, provided the most expensive beer of our stay in Berlin, at 4.20 euros for 500ml. It is, however, one that must be visited, east of the S-Bahn station and within two minutes walk. They have made very pleasant spaces under their two arches, and the loos are cunningly placed in the space in between. Our Croatian waiter spoke apparently fluent German and very good English. The time to visit Lemke is Mon - Fri 12:00 - 15:00 when they do a high quality buffet (eat all you can) at 6.80, which at this moment is under a fiver. See their website for details of their other branch.

Right under the line to Hackischer Markt line, this spacious but busy place has everything you could want in a brew pub. The food is very good, the beer is excellent and the staff are really friendly and helpful even if your German is as terrible as mine. As for the beer, the porter was excellent but the wheat was probably my favourite.

Despite being in Berlin for just a few days we found ourselves coming back more than once.
