Went looking for this pub one Saturday afternoon after a visit to Leighton Moss RSPB reserve. It took some finding, in the dark, but our satnav told us we had arrived. We stopped, saw the pub sign and headed up the path (don't go left immediately on the small road).

We parked in front of the grand building. The building entrance was amazing. The two rooms which form the 'pub' are quite different. As we had a child with us, we settled in the room with the pool table and TV. England were playing football that afternoon and it was on the TV in the room we were in but here was only 4 people watching it, so it was all good and civilised.

The main bar was busy but service was not slow. Four ales to choose from and the one I tried was fine.

All to soon, it was time to show some consideration to our driver and head homewards.

Great pub, wonderful that such places still exist. Highly recommended to pub lovers.

Well I think previous reviewer, Lezford has just about covered it.
If you like quirky this is for you. This building has been a mill owners house or some such. It’s rather grand on a small scale. Someone could do a lot with the property but I hope they don’t; they would spoil a very unusual pub.
Do what we did all weekend; see if you can remember the theme to The Munsters! (see Arihall review)

The 2014 GBG says this place is in an elevated position , well I didn't expect it to be as high up above the village as it was.

4 real ales and 4 real ciders available. All the ales were priced at £2.50 a pint while the ciders are £3.00 each. I went for a pint of Celts' Castell Coch @ 4.7%, a very good and well kept pint.

All the punters in one large room with the bar but the building is huge, if you enter via the right of the building you come into the most amazing tiled entrance hall.

The building has obviously fallen on slightly hard times but the pub is surviving, testament to the locals for their support.

Inside the bar is pretty dark so we took our drinks outside where there are stunning views over the village.

They are holding a beer festival here this month (October) where they will be offering 30 ales.

One of the better ticks I have made on my Northern road trip, I do love the Camra GBG!

First class pub, good selection of cask ales at non rip off prices, they even use lined glasses to ensure a full pint and a head, very friendly landlord and customers, it's also dog freindly. We call in each time we're in the area and recommend that you do too.
