Walked up to this pub through eggesford forest from the railway station.
First impressions were good, reasonabally priced beer my pint of stowford press was excellent.

Could have stayed there all day my dad wanted to push on with the walk!

10/10 great place

We visited The Earl Of Portsmouth on a cold snowy evening in February,we were struck by the warmth of our welcome by the landlord, Sean, and the locals. Helen, the landlady, cooked us a wonderful meal - the garlic mushrooms were exceptional, and that most essential part of a British pub meal - the home made chips were delicious. There is a varied menu, from fish and chips to game casserole and everything in between . This couple are new to the pub, they came in May 2008, and their reputation has rightly begun to spread far and wide locally. We look forward to our next visit.

Came here with good expectations, but food was awful, although chef was pleasant enough, the barman (I think the landlord) was very rude. Will definitely no come back here.

Fantastic food - not your typical pub grub, shipped in and reheated. The lady chef takes real care in what she puts on the plate - you dont get boiled to death vege here! Beer excellent and the hosts very friendly. Would recommned to anyone.
