Almost 5 years after my previous attempted visit, I tried the Wellington again. There is now a notice on the door stating that the owners couldn't make the business work and it is now closed for good. I can't say I'm surprised, as it never appears to open.

Was disappointed to find this pub closed shortly before 3pm on a Saturday afternoon. They apparently weren't opening until 6pm. Whilst we planned to return, it was simply too far out of the way to do so. A shame, but a pub that does not serve beer on a Saturday afternoon can only warrant a 0/10 score. One day we will revisit and hopefully find it open!

Went looking for this pub for Sunday carvery as stated in the Good Beer Guide, but was told they are no longer on. We settled for the Sunday lunch and it was well served with good meat and veg but only 3 small roast potatoes seemed a bit skimpy. Enjoyed it though. The starter of Carot and Orange soup was excellent, and they had intersting breads on the table. No problem with the Wye Valley beers on tap.

Went to "The Welly" with my girlfriend for an evening meal a few weeks ago and had been warned about how good the restaurant was. I was not disappointed at all. Well worth the 3hr drive from Bournemouth, and all the awards the pub have won are totally deserved on this showing. Congrats on a great establishment.

Wye Valley's HPA on-tap and a brilliant bar/restaurant menu. A little bit pricey, but you get exactly what you pay for.. (and what's not stupidly over-priced these days anyway!!) Went in on a thursday night and just stayed all night.. had some great chats with some 'interesting' locals and then made my excuses. But, blow me, what an experience!
