this pub has sadly been a mini mart for some time, I never went in there (hangs head) although i was always endlessly planning to, I met the staff when they manned a first class beer tent at some low key fete in Walthamstow, their barrel of London Pride was A1

anyway, closed and gone, sadly

Just been sold at auction. New owners' intentions not yet known. Enjoy it while you can - how many W/stow pubs boast a thriving folk club, open mic, blues, rock and quiz nights AND several real ales? We don't want to lose it - and we don't want another overnight conversion into a betting shop.

Hey Folkie66, how can you say the pub is getting worse 'day by day' when you then say you do not go in there? Be fair at least!
Every time I have been in there the beer is superb, maybe the atmosphere will pick up now that you have gone to the village.
They have only just done that place up and it was a dire place to drink in before. You should have seen the Plough before it was refurbished a few years ago. As for the garden, it is winter!

Used to have a good atmosphere. I personally think it's getting worse day by day, so much that I stopped going there and started frequenting the Village Pub, which is a much friendlier and nicely decorated pub with a very nice beer garden. And I'm not surprised to see many of the Plough's customers in there.

I was in the Plough last week, is good to see that the music room as a new decoration, is alot warmer and welcome, the beer is still very good (try the Winter Brew). good things are happening in this pub. Nice to see that tradiction is still alive in Walthamstow.
