The Buck Hotel in Caersws, mid Wales... What can I say tjat will do justice to the fantastic atmosphere of this superb place? To start with, a huge thanks to the proprietors, Rob and Gem, for making our stay there such a great time. They are, without doubt, two of the most genial people I have met in a great many years, and the perfect advertisment for their place. They have refurbished it to an extremely high standard, the rooms are spotless and supremely comfortable, and well thought out and beautifully decorated. The pub itself is friendly, warm and inviting, and Rob is the epitomy of a great landlord, warm and effusive, and really friendly, and a real nice guy to boot. Now for the food..... Full marks to Gem, Robs wife, who is also the chef at the hotel, and what a chef... The whole menu is appetising, even reading it made our mouths water. I had the steak, from the local farm, and to say was perfectly cooked would be doing Gem an injustice, I have never had better, and I used to run a small reasteraunt with a fully trained steak chef, and Gem is by far superior. I would highly reccomend the Buck to anyone, the prices are great value, both for the pub side and the Hotel side, and for a great night out, or better yet, a holiday in a beautiful and peaceful location, with great company in the form of Rob and Gem, you wont get anywhere better. 10 out of 10 all round, and we will certainly be returning time and again.
