Great country pub in a lovely rural village. There are several good pubs in this area, but this is right up near the top. We visited on a overcast New Year's Day 2017, and walked across the fields from Layer de la haye, a couple of miles away. Three or four good beers, my favourite being Pixie IPA, and a great cider called bad apple. We left our muddy boots outside and had a great meal in the Restaurant, but pub was also lively. Just like The Whalebone @ Fringringhoe, this seems to ramp up at Christmas, with amazing decorations giving a really welcoming atmosphere... Recommended!!!

Super little country pub. I too went for the recent beer festival and the range of ales (approx 15) available in the marquee all seemed to be in very good condition.

Woodforde's Wherry is a regular at the bar inside.

It's my understanding that the licensees are new to Real Ale but they're certainly trying very hard. A couple of friends who both live in the village and are CAMRA members "wax lyrical" about the pub. This was my first visit in a number of years, but I'm looking forward to going back.

A large traditional country pub. Usually four hand pumps in the pub but they are currently holding their first beer festival (Thurs 17/07 - Sun 20/07). The beer festival is housed in an outside tented area. Eight beers were available on Friday Night; Saltaire Blond, Summer Lightning, Leeds Pale Ale, Brewhouse Bell, Umbell Magna, Brewers Gold and Skippers. We were advised that the Felstar Crix which was advertised in the programme was not good enough to put on. I guess the Marstons Pedigree that replaced it came from the pubs cellar.

Entertainment was a band called 7th Step playing some good ska and reggae. They played much Madness, Specials and Bad Manners songs that we were familiar with. A hog roast was also available.

The pub is large with even two different toilets. There is a small set or toilets just in from the back door with not much room inside. I understand a larger toilet is available on the other side of the pub. The pub is known for its good food and there are plenty of tables and chairs.

Excellent good value food served during the daytime. More than you can probably eat.
Beer is kept exceptionally well.
Staff are very friendly
