Gosh, I am quite shocked about the negative comments about monkeynuts. I on the other hand am going to spread a little joy about the place.(crazy I know for a review website)
My boyfriend took me there for a belated valentines dinner as he was away for the real thing. He had phoned ahead to ask for a bottle of bubbly to be served on arrival which was done so by a smiley waitress with some cheerful banter, this set off the night very nicely. We had starters, mains and desserts, all very yummy especially the chocolate brownie!! After our meal we moved to the sofa area and had some cocktails which were reccomended by the manager, which were also yummy and refreshing. By this time we were so full it was difficult to move but that was fine because we were quite happy to sit and soak up the buzzing atmosphere and have a laugh and a joke with the staff. We eventually left (when they were closing) and left extremely forfilled. The only bad thing I have to say is they wouldnt disclose the recipe for their brownies!!!!
We have been back twice since and will def be back on a regular basis. Brilliant.

Extremely disappointing. Probably the worst service I have ever experienced in a restaurant. Rude staff making faces at customers. When I made a complaint the manager didn't even pretend to listen to me, just told me that she doesn't believe what I'm saying about her staff. Avoid it all cost, unless if you like being treated like a doormat.

I feel really silly. I've just had a really poor experience at Monkey Nuts and felt compelled to write it down (I'll also be writing to management because it's the third bad meal I've had this year - not sure why I kept going back, probably because my little one likes the monkeys and crayons).

Anyway ...
Just scrolled down to read the other reviews and I came across one I'd left three years ago, under a different name. Yes, that's me, and I'd totally forgotten about that bad experience my friend had. (How, I don't know!)

In short, service is extremely slow and verging on rude (when you complain, even in a nice way). And complain I needed to do today. All food came out cold. Kid's fries undercooked. Veggie burger still frozen in the middle. My nachos were overcooked, cheese not melted, so much black pepper in the sour cream (??) it wasn't cooling at all, no black bean salsa - just stray, dried out black beans.

I actually do have stomach pains now, which started just after I left the place. Hoping that it's just that the food didn't agree with me, or because I'm pregnant. Food poisoning not good when pregnant ...

(To the person who was suspect of my earlier review - I rarely leave reviews; only do it when I've had a particularly had a bad meal, which Monkey Nuts seems to do very well! And I name dropped Pick more daisies because, well, it was my fave (sadly now closed down due to expensive rents) and I was gutted that I ended up taking my friends to Monkey Nuts and having an awful meal.)

I love it here! It is great for mums and babies / kids. The staff are friendly and the atmosphere is relaxed. They could do with turning down the music as the kids make enough noise without having to shout over it but they turned it down when we asked.
The food is tasty and with lots to choose from you are not stuck for options. The lunch meal deal is what i have as its a good cheap option for burger chips/pot skins and drink for 8 quid.
Well worth a visit.......high chairs are clean and in working order too!!
