user reviews of the Greyhound, Botesdale

please note - reviews on this site are purely the opinion of site visitors, so don't take them too seriously.

Was desperate for a pee when arriving here. On following somebody in, I decided to use the conveniences first as it would be a few minutes before I could get served. By the time I came out, another guy had appeared and was buying a large round. By the time I got served, I needed the toilet again! Ales are situated on handpulls at the back of the bar. So they are not immediately obvious. On this visit, they were Woodfordes Wherry, Greene King IPA Reserve, Brains The Rev James & Earl Soham Gold. It consists of 2 rooms - an attractive bar area and a separate dining area to the right as you walk in. This pub is now open all day at weekends and you could tell that some of the locals had been taking full advantage. There's a very handy chip shop two doors up.

This is a truly super pub. The interior is fantastic and how a local pub should be. No fussy carpets, horse brasses or bright lights!

Dave the landlord is fantastic and welcomes everyone who comes in, whether new or old customers. We absolutely love the pub.

Closed for some time but when it reopen last year it really raised the stakes for other pubs in the area. A dark bar room with wood floors and decorated with stuffed animals and a live chameleon give the place an amazing atmosphere. A regularly changing selection of Ales are served straight from a rack of barrels behind the bar. There are also some unusual lagers available. Events are often organised involving the whole village including beer festivals, box car racing and live entertainment. Visit this pub!

Recently reopened after a fairly long closure. Tastefully refurbished in 50s theme with a range of real ales served from the barrel. No food served but are happy to supply plates and cutlery for use with fish and chips or Chinese available nearby. Best pub in the area
