Not as cheap as the Crown in Lynton but then again the stone seats outside give a fantastic view over the bay so its worth paying a bit extra. 3 handpulls from Exmoor Ales as well as Doom Bar and Sharp's Special. The beers I tried were good but not quite in the excellent category.

an astonishingly beautifull building, positioned in the most spectacular way jutting out towards the sea, with a 17th century cottage and a huge hill side as a back drop. its so pretty to behold, that its perfectly obvious as to why its overrun with tourists (like ourselves).

despite the crush of punters at about 7 or 8pm, the service was good, the food pretty good and the beer excellent. the exmoor ales are available as three 1/3 pint tasters which is a great touch. the stag and the gold were lovely.

only one complaint. the pub chef suffers from delusions of grandeur. he refused to put cheese on chips, for some reason he feels that it's beneath him. but he will still serve mushy peas and chips. idiot needs to get over himself. its a pub your serving. not the ritz.

none the less, ignoring the cooks pretensions, the place is brilliant.

Nice little pub in a very nice location down by the harbour. Like a few others I found the barpeople a tad condescending, but as it was a nice day on both of the days that we called in here recently, we enjoyed our pints outside and only had to deal with them when we got in the next round. Nice to watch the world go by - smugly watching the envious looks of some of the people walking past.

Well finally got back to this hostelry, after a long time. Have read the reviews regards the landlord in all honesty can't say I've seen him or know him.But every visit I've made the staff have been wonderful. The beers, as always excellent and the food although pricey is always good.I had the fish and chips this time round, on a par with Weston supermares Papa's Restauarant price wise etc so no qualms there.
It's still a firm favourite for me and the modern toilets are always a talking point with guests I take there.

Cosy pub in a fab location.
I drank 8 pints of Exmoor ale here on my girlfriends birthday it was fantastic.
It was never a dull moment sitting outside, watching the world go by and the tide come in on a sunny summers evening.
