user reviews of the Why Not Inn, Astwood Bank

please note - reviews on this site are purely the opinion of site visitors, so don't take them too seriously.

Ate here last night and waited about an hour for the starters to come out. When I queried this I was told by the waitress that because the mushrooms that I had ordered were to be made fresh, the chef had decided to put them aside and send other dishes out first. I actually didn't believe what I was hearing so asked her to repeat it. I got the same reply.
When I went to pay and was asked if everything was ok, I replied no. I explained that I thought their service was crap and told the woman of the waitress's explanation.
Then, the Manager (at least I think he was) jumped in and said 'well I did squeeze you in on a table when we were full and you should have told the waitress'. I stated that I did tell the waitress TWICE and this man started to ARGUE with me!!!!!! Talk about crap customer service as well as crap service!!! I will never go to this pub again and will not recommend it to anyone, in fact I will recommend people avoid it like the plague!!!

Very friendly welcoming environment, food was good quality local produce and very reasonably priced. Good choice of wine and beer.

Foody pub with at least 3 real ales on. Adnams Bitter, Wye Valley Butty Bach and Old Speckled Hen.

Beers were at best average.

Small but welcoming pub in the Worcestershire countryside just outside Redditch. The staff are very courteous, which is always a plus. The majority of the menu is typical pub fare, not much vegetarian choice unfortunately, but the specials board provides a huge range of extra choice with a particular emphasis on fish dishes. Prices are reasonable, exterior is pretty and interior small but pleasant. Good experience overall.

Nice pub with a lovely view from the beer garden, quite good food with a huge range of specials, good desserts.
