Visited last night and found that the Hobson's had been replaced with Hook Norton's Cotswold Lion which seemed rather watery at first but was in decent enough condition. Tribute is still the other cask ale. We were disappointed with our food so we will stick with the Hollybush in Alcester next time we are in the area. paul_d102 - 9 Mar 2013 12:14 |
Tribute and Hobson's "Throckmorton Arms" (Best Bitter re-badged?) available and we spent a nice hour here on the comfy sofa reading the Saturday papers. National Trust's Coughton Court is opposite which drew us in, might re-visit if nearby. paul_d102 - 19 May 2012 16:29 |
Nice enough, but not outstanding. Bar area is good and comfortable, 3 ales (Hooky, Tribute and Purity Gold) all very well kept. Food is ok, basically pub grub, steak etc. We did stay for the night, but could only stay for one night as our room (room 7) was above the kitchen and so unbearbly hot we couldn't sleep. The rooms and dining area are a new bit of the bulding and seem to have paper thin uninsulated walls! reynedd - 17 Aug 2009 23:55 |
Excellent food, excellent value for money and very friendly staff, ate here on our first night away and stopped of for a lovely beer out the back on the following two nights. All in all terrific. akscott - 10 Apr 2007 09:19 |
Great ale and a brilliant atmosphere but they lost out on a food sale due to their inept staff. On our arrival we tried to order but were told there was an hour wait for a table in the restaurant area and food could not be consumed in the bar area. However, halfway through our drinks the table next to us were served grub! Weird. mooglecat - 3 Jan 2007 14:32 |
