please note - reviews on this site are purely the opinion of site visitors, so don't take them too seriously.

This is now closed and soon to reopen as a "Japanese pub", apparently. Hmm.

Somehow managed to get a table for an impromptu pre-Christmas lunch. Reasonably cheap, and reasonably cheerful. Just Grolsch and a modest wine selection upstairs (at street level). Never did get downstairs to see what was on offer in the "wine bar" (but at least we got in the door, unlike the last time we tried in the week before Christmas).

this should be renamed guilty pleasures. If you like unreconstructed eighties wine bars this is the place. Especially if DJ George is on, playing Meatloaf,ELO etc. Other than that the food is excellent and good value and the wine list is always kept up to date

Can't work out this bar...it's shut when other pubs are open and vice versa...does it actually have set opening hours?

A quiet cavern in which to enjoy a fine wine or an average pint with friends/ colleagues. Friendly staff. Food menu for the brave. Surprisingly cheap considering its location.
