Stopped here for a meal and a drink (or three!) in their pub garden. The surroundings were picturesque. The kids played nicely in the garden. The food we had was filling and delicious, and the guest bitters went down well, and my wife enjoyed their wine. Really cannot fault anything, even if I tried to think of something. Staff were friendly also and happy to stop and chat with us. Chowhai - 1 Jul 2014 10:44 |
Beautiful village green, pity about the pub(hotel).the bar area is shabby and in need of renovating.some of the furniture is held together with electrical tape.the thwaites beer was ok,but the wine was not as good. Mudu - 9 Sep 2013 15:02 |
What fantastic service and food! We stayed here for my daughter's second birthday. We booked four rooms and ate here on a Saturday night. From the moment I called to book the rooms to the moment we left, we could not fault the service. The rooms were clean and airy. The food was fantastic; Great variety, quality and a kids menu. All of the staff were friendly and accommodating, and fine about our four lively children! We would definately reccomed and return to The Castle when visiting Hythe or surrounding areas. tantan - 2 Aug 2010 20:56 |
Not the smartest pub and could do with a makeover, but this is compensated by the warm and friendly atmosphere. Food is surprisingly good and seems to be genuinely home cooked. Service varies a bit by staff member, but the landlord is very friendly. marble12 - 30 Jul 2010 21:01 |
Went back a bit over a year since my last visit, and I have to say that the experience was somewhat better than previously. It may still be a bit tatty, but the place was heaving on a Sunday lunctime and had an excellent village pub feel - it really did seem like the centre of the community. The Harveys was on good form too. rpadam - 22 Feb 2009 22:49 |
