Sunday was my first visit to this place on the edge of the city centre. It has a run-down feel (in a good way, if that is possible). There were only 3 other customers and a large dog hanging around the bar. Ales were all from the Two Towers brewery - Complete Muppetry, Hockley Gold, Chamberlain Pale Ale, Baskerville Bitter, Rennaissance & Ringbearer. I opted for the Ringbearer, an 8% barley wine. I normally enjoy a barley wine. But, this seemed a long way off its best. Certainly a pub with plenty of character though. blue_scrumpy - 15 Oct 2019 18:58 |
A terrific find. Scuzzy and a scruffy but none the worse for that while beers from the Two Towers brewery (the pub is that business's tap) were in good shape. Filled rolls were well presented and there is a relaxed spaciousness to the building. 'Complete Muppetry' is a great name for a beer too. BoehmBawerk - 24 Mar 2019 17:08 |
Very friendly pub - both the bar staff and the regulars. Tap House for the Two Towers Brewery. Had a Hockley Gold - first ever - good condition but maybe too hoppy for my tastes. Would need more to give an opinion! Excellent Jukebox. Worth seeking out - only 5 mins from Snow Hill Station. Visit blogged at http://bit.ly/2pxONu4 Mappiman - 22 Mar 2018 10:52 |
Pleasant tap of the Two Towers Brewery offering a friendly welcome and relaxed atmosphere. Tried three of the ales: Birmingham Mild was the best to my palate. Worth a visit. 8/10. wobblybob - 12 Sep 2017 21:18 |
Basic pub with not a lot going for it other than the fact that it is the taphouse for Two Towers Brewery so I was at last able to have a pint of "Bhacker Ackhams" as well as "Complete Muppetry". As one might expect when the beers are brewed on the premises, they were in good condition - but neither pint was that distinctive in taste. The lack of customers made me worry about the future of this place though. paul_d102 - 22 Jan 2017 19:14 |
