please note - reviews on this site are purely the opinion of site visitors, so don't take them too seriously.

It's a shame it was a great wee boozer, always had a laugh. I'm not going to sit here and say it was Publicanas fault because a company isn't to blame for all of this pubs downfall. The last manager this place had ran it wrongly for the pub it was, it wasn't the companies pub, it was ours, us loyal customers who went there for 40 years. She drove us out, at least with Mark? we had theme nights, and laughs and a good atmosphere it was always a welcoming place. Never any trouble and if there was it was out the door faster that you can down an aftershock. I don't know if this pub will ever open up again, or if it will in my lifetime, but if it does lets hope its a private lease holder. Companies are all about the money and never about the customers, and that's what this pub was, it wasn't the walls, or the beer, or the music, it was the atmosphere and the people that came into it.

Craig Mcdermott of Publicana destroyed this pub. He put in the same awful woman to run it as he has had running my local in Cumbernauld since October when they finally killed the Golden Gates. This pub was so badly run it closed down and I can see my local going the same way. McDermott should stick to counting bottles and as for Publicana .... well, their running of pubs like this one says it all.

I would like to leave a coment for wagon regarding PUBLICANA PUB GROUP which is i totally agree with what you said bout this company and feel sorry for anyone who has the misfortune of having them enter there pubs.I CAN SAY THIS AS KNOWING WHAT A SHOWER OF YOU KNOW WHATS THEY ARE AND HAVE STOOPED TO AN ALL TIME LOW BY NOT PAYING WAGES TO ITS EX EMPLOYEES OF A CERTAIN PUB IN WAKEFIELD AREA AND OWE THE WAGES FROM MANAGERS TO CLEANERS NO ONE HAS BEEN PAID AND WE ARE TALKING THOUSANDS SO MAYBE ITS A SIGN THERE GOING DOWN IN A BIG WAY.

i dont know why the comments got taken down as far as i knew this was an opinion site and my opinion is that iv been drinking in theis pub for 40 years and never saw it run as badly as when veronica took over. the company publicana is no good at what they do, they should leave well alone and not kill pubs its hard enough with smoking bans and the likes. the whole company are a shower of arseholes and i hope the decline in their pockets hits them hard and fast.

Decent enough local boozer with friendly sevice. Food and drink both reasonably priced. The 70/- was a bit off when I went, but I'm assured that this was a one off. Shows Countdown on large screen TV in the afternoons too. What more could you want?
