this pub looks great outside and is quite nice inside sadly thats were it stops i had a pint of timothy taylor which is a nice pint but this had a pong to it which sets the alarm bells ringing in the cleaning of the pumps dept i also had a liver pate plowmans and again they got this all wrong serverd up on a block of wood i had 4 very small cut slices of baquette with holes in it which did not leave a lot of bread, the pate had no taste and the salad was mainly coleslaw all for 8.95 when i complained it fell on deaf ears. bye bye you wont see me again.

Wow what a difference, not in a good way, came here last night and the service was just awful.
Well overpriced mediocre food and scandalous beer prices explains lack of drinkers.
Looks like it has had money spent on it but forgetting the customers is unforgivable.
Tried to express my views but noone in charge was available (says it all ) and staff were uninterested.
Won't be back in a hurry I'm afraid ..

Having written two complimentary reviews about this pub (20/12/06 and 17/11/08) I'm sorry to say that, despite smart new signage, this has gone way downhill. First the car park, despite the recent dry hot spell, is very muddy. Also, on a Wednesday lunchtime there were no tables to eat at unless you'd booked. 15 is expensive for a meal eaten perched on a bar stool, especially when the stool's covered with crumbs from a previous customer and the bar's soaked with beer. (Made the mistake of putting my newspaper down, and it made it illegible). The friendly staff I'd encountered before have been replaced with unhelpful ones who ignore you for as long as they can. And the ultimate irony is, the party who'd 'booked' two-thirds of the pub (for the owners to allow such a large booking suggests greed on their part) still hadn't arrived by the time I left, so I could have had a table after all. I've eaten here 22 times, but I'll try the Shy Horse next time I'm in the area.

Hadn't been in here for a few years, clearly been altered inside and very much laid out for food. Beers were Cornish Coaster (3.45), Doom Bar and Old Thumper with a sign saying that Summer Lightning and Old Hooky were coming soon. Pleasant enough outside on a sunnt Sunday afternoon.
