user reviews of the Railway Tavern, Edmonton

please note - reviews on this site are purely the opinion of site visitors, so don't take them too seriously.

This pub will short change you so be careful. I reckon if your a local or Irish you are fine but otherwise count your change. Pub is OK, nothing speacial, but being short changed leaves a bad taste in the mouth.

Very cosy pub, incredibly friendly staff.
Will definitely go back!

Am I surprised that no-one has reviewed this pub in 3 1/2 years.. Not really.
I haven't been to Edmonton Green for over 10 years and only found myself here at 9.30AM on a Saturday morning because I had dropped my car off to be serviced at a local garage and needed to kill three hours. And as i'd seen in the paper that they had opened a brand new Asda and spent loads of money on doing up the Tower Blocks I thought I'd go down the Green as it must have improved a lot since I was last there. Oh Dear no... Lets just say the pound shops are the height of the shopping experience around the market square. And you can imagine my relief when the Railway Tavern opened at 10.00AM and I could hide away with the morning paper and a pint . So in 3 1/2 years nothing has changed. The beers average, the ambiance is less than average but the best bit remains that you can escape here and forget you are in Edmonton Green.

Nice little pub built into the shopping centre that mainly depends on the market traders for it's custom. Inside it is dimly lit and comfortable, barstaff are reasonably friendly and quick, not the greatest range of drinks,no food and prices are a little on the steep side considering it's location, but all in all a decent place for an afternoon pint or two. One of those pubs that is inexplicably hard to leave once you are settled in, at least partially because it makes you forget that you are actually in Edmonton Green which can only ever be a good thing. Only major drawback is that it tends to shut early as once the shops shut there are few people to generate passing trade and if truth be told the shopping centre is something of a no-go area once it gets dark.
