This has been refurbished and is now THE DRAPERS ARMS, owned by the Stonegate Pub Company. In many respects it resembles a Wetherspoons with a reasonable range of half a dozen real ales, brightly lit but not overbearingly so, and very busy young bar-staff. We went for the £8.45 for 2 meals option, and although one has to accept that you get what you pay for the grub was disappointing. My chicken curry slice was not very nice, the peas were few in number and rock-hard, although the chips were good. This was the busiest pub on our 10-pub crawl. It's OK but lacking in character.

Used to be a hardware store. More useful than The Old Proverbial and now redecorated and branded Drapers Arms (a "traditional style pub"). Plenty of actual traditional style pubs nearby so not sure why anyone would bother.

a soul less place, beer is not that well kept, the no trainers rule is a joke, turning away respectable people who were popping in for a drink! They turned away my friend who is a 40+ professional!

Loved this pub a year or so ago, was out last weekend and went back in there with girlfriends and its still a friendly place. Staff are happy and service was good even though they are busy. Only criticism is it seems to have changed worryingly into somewhat of a chemist in the toilets! Shocking.

OK at lunchtimes but no tainer rule in the evening is just plain daft.
