please note - reviews on this site are purely the opinion of site visitors, so don't take them too seriously.

went in here tonight for the first time in a year or so. it was a kareoke night, now dont get me wrong i enjoy a sing song as much as the next man but it was shocking to see how the clientel has dipped from hardworking eastenders, to mummy boys who parents are renting them a yuppie flat next door, to loudmouthed northern trailor trash working on the olympic site. i think the pub looks great, beers good, and is well run, i just dont like listening to loud mouth f***s shouting

Pub is shut, with a "Lease for Sale" sign displayed.

I had a gig here last night - I am the vocalist with The Capris - the pub does not look as inviting as it could do from the outside which might put some off, but you should definitely pop in to see for yourself. Decor wise, as last post says, it needs the refit that is happening in March but it also has the beauty of being a proper Eastend boozer - not a place trying to be a trendy wine bar or such like - depending on your favoured type of place to drink, it could be seen as a decent boozer with character rather than a hole that some might unfairly deem it.

The gig was great fun and sadly was only to a small crowd as the pub looks to bring in more people alongside the refit - BUT those that were there were extremely positive about the band and its playing to people like this that makes the gigs feel more enjoyable. We are back in the Tavern Feb 23rd and will invite more to this gig to savour the proper boozer days before the likes of J Wetherspoon and co try and get their mitts on every pub and destroy drinking fun as we know it.

The Railway Tavern is having a refit in March - and in truth it needs it just to change it from being a bog standard boozer to a decent place where you would want to go for a pint.

Potential to be a good bar methinks - friendly bar staff which is always a good starter! Pub is not massive but with the right decor and clientele, this could be a great local for Plaistow/Stratford locals.

Live music here on Feb 3rd from The Capris (see reviews in The Flower Pot, Walthamstow) - this place does need more attractions to ensure the steady flow of regulars turns into a busy thriving pub. Currently the pub has a singer and they have run karaoke in the past.

I would say its worth a look once the refit is done - but in the meantime, Feb 3rd might be worth a shot due to the live music. (I know the band and they are very good so I am biased, but I expect it to be the best gig they have had in there).
