August 2009 .. Abrupt and rude bar staff put me right off this place. I tried a pint of Arran bitter which was not to my taste. They finished serving food at 9pm .

I left half my beer and went to the Brodick Bar and Bistro in Alma Road.. OK its not a proper Bistro, and the food was edible but not special.. but they did a good pint of Deuchers, AND most important was friendly and welcoming.

Visited this outlet in June 2009. Had a pint of red squirrel, not on handpump, which I was not very keen on. Nothing wrong with it, just not to my taste. The bar was cosy and well appointed. Barman was chatty but not intrusive. A comfortable place to spend some time.

A nice cosy bar tucked away behind the hotel. I had the 2 Arran beers available, Arran Blonde and Red Squirrel (there was a third, but they had run out), the lady at the brewery told me that out of season it's the only real ale outlet for them on the Island. The beer was excellent, really very good indeed, but it was 3.35 a pint! The 'beer miles' for those particular beers being 1.5 miles.

Best watering hole I've been in & that's quite a few.
Meals & snacks, disco, quiz, games, beer garden, folk nights, real ales & all for nothing (entertainment that is !).

Regards,

Max.
