I decided to give La Cascada a try after getting tired of all the chain restaurants in the town centre and I was not disappointed! The staff were very welcoming and the food was amazing! I'd only tried tapas before in La Tasca and this was a completely different experience! I will definately be going back and would recommend this place to anyone who enjoys really good food and wine and is prepared to leave the town centre to get it!

I'm not sure whether the previous reviewer visited when the location was still 'The Welshwood' pub?

However, I have dined at La Cascada 3 or 4 times now and think a more balanced review is in order.
Having eaten there both at lunch and in the evening, used as a place to entertain clients, and attending their wine tasting events, I have no hesitation in recommending La Cascada to others.

Staff were attentive and friendly without being invasive, the menu was varied, interesting and (from what I have eaten) very tasty - try the slow roast pork.
I have never had a dessert yet (too full from starter / main course), although the choices look very tempting - will have to pace myself next time.
The wine list suits all tastes and price ranges. Having just been to a wine tasting evening, it is clear they take their wine selection seriously.

La Cascada deserves to succeed and is well worth your visit.

Unfortunately I was very disappointed with this experience. Our drinks order had to be repeated twice, our pre-starter came without the sauce which then came after we requested it (by which time we had finished the bread). Our starter was bland and then we had to wait over 25 minutes for our main course. This time was spent watching the table opposite us complain that the steak was too raw. When ours arrived they had accidentally served the different sides for our mains on the incorrect plates asking us to fork it off onto the correct plate. I was really upset with my main of grilled whole seabass which was raw and bleeding from the middle. After eating around the edges I complained to the waitress who said the chef stated that that is how it is cooked in Spain. She did not offer to re-cook it or offer another selection. The apology was disinterested and we still had to pay over 60 for this meal with no discount or offer of one. Needless to say we left immediately without dessert or coffee. I was so sad as this was a special occasion for us and it spoilt our celebration. The waitress said the location had a very bad reputation and that they were looking to change this but unfortunately for me it will remain to be somewhere I do not rate very highly. If I wanted sushi I would go to a sushi restaurant. The worst part was the stomach problems I suffered from which began at 3am. This may have been a bad night for them but I am sorry to say I would not recommend it to anyone and would never go there again.
