Classic country pub which has been in the Good Beer Guide since time immemorial. All of the Sunday diners had left so we sat in the narrow snug with its Victorian fireplace and internal sash window that opens into a corridor. £3 a pint beers were Swan on the Wye, Purity Longhorn IPA, Bewdley Sunshine, Hobsons Best, Exmoor Gold and Campbell's Flintlock so the range was skewed towards golden ales. paul_d102 - 12 Aug 2018 18:45 |
The Bell was our favourite pub of 4 we visited on Friday evening last week. The welcome was really warm. The pub has a bar, a small adjacent snug and a dining room along the corridor. The snug was full with people who had booked to dine. But the staff opened up the dining room for us, as we were travelling with our boy. Ales were Hobson's Best Bitter, Exmoor Gold, Prescott Hill Climb, Kinver Light Railway & Ludlow Gold. There were no real ciders on, which was a little disappointing. But they clearly do stock them from time to time. Robinson's Flagon was the best option available. blue_scrumpy - 12 Feb 2018 20:09 |
A great pub which seems to deserve all the acolades it get's and is well worth taking time to visit. 24 of us popped in for an hour on a recent Camra trip and the staff did a great job in feeding and watering us. The food was good with an excellent view from the dining room and beer garden and more importantly the beer was very good with a varied selection of 6 ales and several ciders. We tried the Dark Star Hophead - a great beer - and all the others seemed to go down well too. bromsgrovebeerboy - 4 Aug 2013 12:54 |
Combined a lunchtime pint with a lovely walk - I am going to try and combine a walk with all the counties top 10 pubs on this site - this is number 4, but my rating may move it up. Unfortunately, I had picked up a bit too much mud to take advantage of the roaring open fires. I was not short of company, as the landlord came and had a chat to me in the beer garden. Superb pint of Hobsons. Great country pub Mappiman - 2 Feb 2013 17:00 |
