I've only been here once, that is probably enough. I must admit, I didn't spend too long in here so can't really comment on the staff etc, but some of the people in there just made me think that it's a shame guns are illegal.

Turned up, mixed group of us, no queue, but the bouncer made us wait outside. We believed it was a one-in-one-out job, but in the time we waited, not a single person left, then he decided we could come in - I suppose he was seeing if we were p!ssed enough to soil ourselves. During the one drink I had in there, saw a Russian bloke at the bar (which was packed and with no music - odd) shouting about what c*nts English people are, then saw a bloke with a broken arm sitting on his own stand up to get something out of his pocket, the minute he did some skanky little goth girl jumped in his seat, called her mates over then refused to move, saying he had got up so the seat was hers now.

So I went home and watched some nonsense with Steven Segal in, even that was better. Bah!!!

OK brews, and a good atmostphere, but let down by the barman/manager who thinks its acceptable to ignore and flip V signs at customers who ask if the bar is still open. Regardless of the fact that the barmaid at the other end of the bar is still serving. Shoddy, unprofessional and just needlessly rude.

This place use to be great for a late drink but they seem to have a new management style. You are asked at the door if you are drunk (what are you going to say - yes?) and once you are in, you are stopped from having any of sort of fun. Every two minutes the bouncher kept coming up to us to ask if we could keep the noise down. We were rather a large group but not rowdy by any means. I am not sure I would now go back again.

This place is great for a session in. There's even a decent fast food place next door, some crazy couscous chicken tortilla wrap thing. Goes down a storm after 12 pints.

Have been wanting to give this place a try for a while, since I was reasonably impressed by the Idle Hour in Barnes. First up, this is completely different in terms of atmosphere: it's quite noisy compared to the original. The front bar is ok, and the decor is fine, if slightly unoriginal. But overall the bar is nothing special, and as noted there are no draught ales. But (there's always a but), the service in the restaurant area is dreadful. I realise that Saturday nights are busy, but leaving customers to stare at a menu for 40 minutes is just plain shoddy. Then there's the quality of the food itself. While my friends enjoyed their koftas and other nibbly bites, my thai coconut chicken soup was thin and watery, and the noodles looked like the variety normally served up with the aid of a kettle. Unimpressive, especially for a tenner. Finally, how can any establishment in this day and age expect to get away with watering down as distinctive-tasting a brew as Hoegaarden? Disappointing.
