| Penultimate pub for me on an early Wednesday evening crawl was the Royal Oak. It is another local pub that does not open until 4pm. So, I was doing a bit of travelling back and forth along the East Lancs Road. The Royal Oak is in the current Good Beer Guide. But, to be perfectly honest, it surprises me. With a selection of Lee's Bitter or Sharp's Doom Bar, I was not very spoilt for choice. The Lee's was in good form though. There are a couple of rooms. Both seem to have strange lighting. | Royal Oak due to re-open very shortly. It has been completely re-furbished and I am looking for to the opening - will be nice to have some competition for the Greyhound who seem to increase their prices too regularly. minesalargeone - 5 Dec 2011 13:13 |
| Drink and service ok, very old fashioned, requires updating. The toilets were dreadful. Not sure if I would be going back. There are better pubs in the area. anonymous - 19 Dec 2008 14:48 |
