This pub has reopened - and how! The plan to redevelop it as private housing was fought against and won by three local chaps. Had lunch there on Friday - very well kept ale - 2 x Butcombe, (including Rare Breed rebranded as "Cliffhanger") plus guest ale (Fullers), superb refurbishment as upmarket gastro-pub, fantastic food including several vegetarian options and really friendly staff, also dog-friendly. Just broke my never give 10/10 rule but this is the best I have found of pubs of this kind.

It IS abandoned: for sale as a "private dwelling" at 550,000. "Having been vacant for the past 2 years the property comes to the market in need of sympathetic renovation and refurbishment throughout," says the estate agent. Pity, as it was rather good and was a nice place to stop off.

Rang this pub today. The answer machine said: "This number does not receive incoming calls". Went round there yesterday evening and it looked very abandoned - hence the call.

Quiet village pub which does food ut more importantly sells a couple of the excellent Hopback ales, namely Summer Lightning and Crop Circle the latter of the two being in top condition on my recent visit.
