Fantastic place. Great to eavesdrop on a few local tales, even if they were generally of symptoms, prescriptions, and side-effects.

Beautiful fire, delightful beer. The locals are blessed indeed.

It was good thirty years ago, and it's good again now. Lovely little cosy pub, brewing its own range of tasty ales, mostly named after local-ish celebrity Captain Cook and his assorted exploits. A considered range of guest ales are available too.

Popular with locals and visitors alike, it's the sort of place you'd like to get trapped in on a wild and stormy night...

Absolutely amazing array of ale from this brewpub and other breweries. Quality is good as well.

Truly lovely old place.

Wish we could have spent much, much longer here.

The brewery is back to its old self with the return of Ian Jackson following the terrible attack on him in Darlington. On Sunday there were 7 Captain Cook beers available inluding the new Resolution bitter and the fantastic Black Porter. There were also two guest beers. Great to visit in the winter with the fire roaring.
