The Hop & Kilderkin was the first of a few pubs we tried in Winton between Christmas and New Year. Our main reason for visiting were the two micropubs on this street - Micro Moose and the Silverback. Neither are listed on here. Both were good. The Hop & Kilderkin was open before the others though. So we ventured in. It's a typical food and family-oriented Greene King pub. Greene King IPA & Hardy and Hanson's Rocking Rudolph were the two real ales. Killed some time, if nothing else.

Good pub - as other comments suggest mainly students but also a good mix. Nice and airy. Beer good, didn't eat so can't comment on the grub.

Only downside is that we went in on the advertised quiz night. Fairly quiet and the "DJ/Quizmaster" was terrible. Oldish guy who talked far too much and full of himself - spoilt it so we got up & left.

Will definitely go back there again for the good beer & food but wouldn't recommend the quiz on a Monday.

Think this pubs rating is being dragged down by older reviews. Had a pint of the St Edmunds Ale last saturday and it was perfect. Decor fine, a little boisterous for my liking but that's cos of the sky footie that was on. A solid 6 and would return here again.

They've clearly had the interior designers in to rip out the tired old wooden flooring and furniture and I think they've done a great job. Its a very smart pub now, friendly barmaids but still very good value food and drink. Can't wait to go back again and deserves a much higher rating in my opinion.

Just had the 60 min make over, stinks of paint with no ventilation, over priced and asked not to stand at the bar. Have a word green king.
