This was my final stop in Leicestershire yesterday evening. I hadn't planned to visit this place. But with quite a few pubs in this part of Leicestershire having closed down or having decided not to open, this was a last minute bonus! It's a Greene King pub with an unspoiled interior. Locals were congregated in one room. It was one of those places where everything stopped when a stranger walked in. Greene King The Dewdrop Bitter & XX Mild were on. But there were also a couple of guests - Ringwood Old Thumper & Hardy & Hanson's Rock On With Rudolph. The gents' toilets were quite impressive. A decent end to the day.

The term 'friendly welcome' is often overused, but in this case, it can be used correctly. This is a two roomed pub, with a real fire in the larger room. The landlord was very friendly, as were the locals who provided a great backdrop to a good pint of Greene King mild on the bar. The interior does not look as though it's been altered for years, and this is to its credit as this adds to the feel of the place. The only drawback would be that the choice of ales was limited to those from Greene King, but this should not stop you from visiting this pub.

Proper drinking / village pub on the A6 north of Loughborough. Pub dog. Worth popping in for a swift half if passing by!
