| Very much a local's pub in a town not noted for community pubs. At lunch times it's frequented by pensioners drawn to the excellent, extensive and very reasonably price menu. In the evenings it's very much a ladz football pub when it's being shown on the three TV's. Don't let this put you off. This is a great community boozer opposite Tesco. Beer is reasonably priced for the area and always in good nick. Landlord is a real east end character when he's around, otherwise his friendly staff run the show. thewildrover - 25 Oct 2013 20:12 |
| I visited The Black Horse for the first time last Saturday with two other people. The food was excellent. There was a wide choice, generous portions, the salad was fresh & varied. The food is fantastic value for money, & I would confidently recommend this pub to anyone. There is a nice comfortable family atmosphere, the staff are brilliant, & they even had one of my favorite wines, Wairau Sauvignon blanc. Just one complaint, why no Chardonnay?
