Update on my comments from Mar 07. There seems to be a better atmosphere here now for normal eating - the pub is being refurbished so watch this space.
Lets hope that they match the service to the decor as when I was there for Valentines Night, they had laid on a special menu etc but ruined the night by booking a large table for an office party. Nothing romantic about the night at all.

This is a lovely homely pub with a bar and games room one side and a restaurant and bar the other.
The staff were cheerful and we were served quickly We had booked a table and as this was our first visit we read the menu and were very impressed at the variety of food on offer.
There was something to suit everyone I would think, ranging from the classic pub type food like bangers and mash, fish and chips, lasagne, and pie as well as a range of grills, which did not just include the usual like steak and chips, but also a tandoori grill and b.b.q ribs .
I chose from the speciality menu and had the poached halibut in a sweet chilli sauce and had chips And veg. It was really good. Cooked to perfection and tasty, my other half chose a mixed grill which was cooked exactly to his liking.
There was a choice of homemade puddings which I could not manage as I had eaten too much already as the portions were very generous My husband had treacle sponge and custard which he said was very light and very nice.
We will definitely be eating here again and would recommend it.
Excellent as well as being good Value for money.

This pub is continually changing hands. I have lived in the village for just over 4 years and have 'known' 5 landlords! It is very hard to rate this pub because of that. They do however, hold great folk evenings regularly in a side room. See their website for details.
