user reviews of the Station Hotel, Port St Mary

please note - reviews on this site are purely the opinion of site visitors, so don't take them too seriously.

The Railway Station Hotel is unsurprisingly situated nextdoor to Port St Mary station. It was quiet on my Saturday lunchtime visit. In fact, I was the only customer. But the friendly landlady was expecting a crowd in to watch the rugby. There are 4 ales on, 2 in each room. On this visit, they were Okells Bitter & MPA & Bushy's Best Bitter & Helmsman. Judging by the last review, I guess this place has had a refurbishment. There is a public bar where the sport was to be shown and a lounge bar with a real fire and music playing. Reasonable place that could have done with more customers to create an atmosphere. But this was an off-season visit.

We recently stayed at The Station Hotel and received a really good welcome.
The food was good home cooked with ample choices , the Sunday lunch was really good value at 6-95.The only problem I had with the food was on Fri and Sat when the kitchen is rented out to serve Thai food ( not my cup of tea ).
The room we had was spacious and clean with T/V and tea and coffee.I found the shower ok but my husband said it was a bit small!!!.
Although the dining room and two bar areas could do with a lick of paint they where clean and had a fair selection of drinks.

This place has just changed hands, I beleive, but I was disappointed not to be able to get any food (it used to be very good) and the range of beers was nothing to write home about. Hopefully it will improve by the next time I visit.
