| Unfortunately this pub is closing for good on Sunday 31st Jan. The structure is unsound so it is due to be demolished. There are rumours that it will be replaced with flats. Many happy memories. riggwelter - 31 Jan 2009 12:29 |

| The Barleycorn now offers a selection of real ales. Popular with students and locals alike, it did go downhill a year or so ago, but it has now been transformed into a friendly, welcoming pub with regular live Music and one of the cheapest pints around. | I've been going to The Barleycorn for years, mostly on a Sunday after football. It went downhill for a spell 2004.2005 but has definately improved in 2006 under the new management. It will be well worth a visit on Wednesday December 20th 2006 though because I've heard that this band called THE FRAUDSTERS are playing, and they are one hot band.
