Used to drink in here with my mates before heading off to the infamous club roccoco. A lively place set out over different level always liked it in here. 8/10 montie49 - 12 Dec 2011 11:33 |
Monday & Tuesday student nights cracking. Cheap lash, 6 jugs of snakebite and good music. During the day, boring bar with no ales and poor food charliew - 21 Jun 2009 09:45 |
Butlers is now called 'Mosaic'. According to a front page article in the local paper (The Express & Echo, Feb 4th 2008) the management have barred a regular for no other reason than the fact that he wasn't posh enough (he has a shaven head and tattoos on his neck). Apparently "It's now a high-class wine bar-cum-restaurant and it's expecting people to fit into that." Chris Davis, a spokesman for the pub's owners TCG, said "You can exclude anybody from a licenced premises and don't have to say why." It's not the sort of pub I'd bother to frequent anyway, but I thought I'd warn people that if you've got a shaven head or tattoos, you probably won't be allowed in. Trequites - 4 Feb 2008 18:34 |
I am led to believe the landlord leaves soon. If he does and doen't go to another pub at some stage in the future, this will not only be a sad loss to Butlers and Exeter, but to the trade as a whole. This place probably still needs some TLC but, in the end, a landlord's enthusiasm will always be restricted or overcome accountants running the industry. SW6 - 19 Jul 2006 09:56 |
The landlord seems keen but the "brewery" has very limited ideas. Good food, pleasant staff, shame about the lack of company committment. SW6 - 21 Dec 2005 08:06 |
