user reviews of the Fox and Pelican, Grayshot

please note - reviews on this site are purely the opinion of site visitors, so don't take them too seriously.

A really lovely pub seriously let down by the incumbent staff, both resturaunt and bar. These people lack the friendlieness required for a local pub, being cold and void of character (staff). The Restaurant service was dismal taking me 45 minutes to pay my bill and that is having to search out the waitress from the kitchen to get some attention, and even then I had to wait!! The staff appear to be illinformed and only there, because they have to be. This is the third and last time I have taken guests to the pub/restaurant hoping it was a one-off incident each time only to be embarrassed. The third time walking out with my guests without even having a beer. This is my local pub within 5 minutes walk but I will not go back until there are major people changes.

Went there one Sunday lunchtime and needless to say they were quite busy. Told there was a 40 minute wait for food but in the end it was only 20 minutes that we had to wait. It looks like it's been recently decorated so although it has a modern feel it still retains some of it's charm. Usual Fuller's beers available including Seafarers and Honey Dew.

The staff were friendly and attentative and IMHO it's worth a look in if ever you're passing by.

8/10.

Visited this place on Easter Monday and was very happy with it. Food for 4 adults and 3 children cost 51 and was of a good standard. The young girl who took our food order (Lydia?) was exceptionally helpful and was still smiling after taking many peoples food orders. The barman was also very friendly. We sat outside, but what I noticed of the inside looked very pleasent and the tables were well-presented. If you have children, there is a large but safe outdoor play area with new equipment including swings and a fairly large play-frame, and there's plenty of table-benches to sit at. Only giving this an 8 because it takes something very special to get a 9 or 10 from me!

Decent enough place. Friendly, with a big screen for the footie, decent beer garden, friendly staff and the karaoke night (Monday) is a good night out
