This pub is now a rather classy Italian restaraunt.

Last night I went into the Half Way House with my sister-in law, brother-in-law and my partner. I have been to the pub before and really enjoyed myself and wanted to share the expereince with them. We spent around 100 on drinks but we were prepared to pay it because it is a lovely pub and the 'extras' (plasma tv's, snooker table, friendly bar staff) make it the best pub in Bolton. However, at around 10pm the landlord came ino the pub (a little worse for wear) with two of his friends. The bar man was really friendly and polite but we couldn't help overhearing the foul language used towards him by the landlord. The landlord dropped a glass and he told the barman to "pick it up you f***ing c***." I am sure you will agree this is unacceptable behaviour from anyone but especially from the landlord who should be setting an example. At 10pm on a Friday night the pub was dead. I can now see why from the behaviour and attitude of the landlord. My partner had a quiet word with the landlord as we left and he didn't say a word, not even a "sorry." One of his friends however, did tell us not to come back again, which we won't.
It's a pity because I was going to take 20+ people in next week to celebrate me birthday but I will take my custom elsewhere.
The bar man has a real talent and should be in a pub which appreciates him or at least shows some respect.
