i have called the jolly my local for a few years, it carries a bad reputation but new staff n management has changed this pub dramatically, i think the staff are friendly and helpful, defo more of a lager pub, but does do bitter and cask ales, they cater for most football fans, large screen is great, the new chef has changed the menu and the food is now better than ever, the people that go in the pub r clearly locals and they all get along, there is always old sat with young and i see people go in the pub alone and leave in a group, the smoking facilities are better than most.
i think if u havent been in 4 a while....check it out, its not what the reputation says.

This pub is my local but we wont go in it.
Has an aggressive atmosphere, rude bar staff (not all of them)bland food, uninspiring beer collection. Very keen to throw you out on the dot and very very smokey.
It does have a good patio at the back for the summer and is caters fairly well for the disabled (ramp at back, toilets).
OK for under 25's but not for overs.

The Jolly, possibly the nicest pub ever. The drinks seem to be kept a lot better than in any other pubs I've been in.

Plays really great music too.

big pub, good food including vegetarian, usually a couple of unexciting but decently kept real ales. Outside seating is on terrace overlooking carpark. Can get very smokey even in n/s area
