Now Spanky Van Dykes. Still aimed at students but does sell real ale.

Loud rock pub, now affiliated with the recently closed Horn in Hand. Expensive and crowded. Sometimes an upstairs room is open.

Great place to go for a beer before going to Rock City or The Rescue Rooms, no real ales are served though, clientel are mainly the young music going type.

I thought the staff were quite friendly here, but didn't order any food. Clientel were a bit hardcore for my liking, but a good list of offers on the board to rival the Fountain in Aberystwyth.

Didn't try the ale, got tempted by a vodka and poor man's red bull.

The food here was terrible but we were brought up to be polite so we didn't complain and tried to eat as much of it as we could. The drink is okay...just don't eat the food!

only go on a Thursday 'cause it a 1 a pint. and that's if you have to. Terrible beer, incredibly rude staff who hae no idea how to work behind a bar. And don't order food cause by the time you've fought off all the files around it'll be cold. avoid

An OK pub, metal Kareoke is great! but there is a huge Clique culture heaven forbid you aren't just the right amount of alternative or you'll get sideways glances all night. with this pub the people you know will determine how good of a night you have. went in their with my sister left after one drink as I felt like we were wearing mink in a anti-fur meeting. came back another night with my sisters boyfriend from a band playing at the rescue rooms and long time Rock city staff member....all sweetness and light we were treated like kings. come with an entourage.

A damn fine student friendly pub, good prices and just far enough away from the regular Nottm riff raff to make it a more than adequate location for a night's drinking. No dress code, smiling faces behind and infront the bar, Good Stuff :)
