please note - reviews on this site are purely the opinion of site visitors, so don't take them too seriously.

Went in last week with some friends after reading these reviews and thinking no where can be that bad and I was right, it is far worse than any of the reviews. Just anything goes, no discipline, no control. Big bunch a tattooed guys up on end of the bar who everyone, including the door staff seem terrified of. Justa really dreadful place, we werent sorry to leave.

Grade one shit hole. Dirty and undisciplined with two half wit, scruffy and miserable owners. More coke in the toilets than an Amy Winehouse party. Basically where everyone goes who has been thrown out of or couldnt get into a club. Go there at your peril.

The two people who run this place are the most unsuited persons for running a pub that I have ever come across. They are the most miserable people on this planet. They might as well wear t shirts saying we dont want to be here and weve had your money now sod off. I agree with earlier comments, the place closes when it feels like. Discipline inside is very poor. You might well get thrown out if you are a nine stone student who is speaking too loudly but if you are a fifteen stone Gypo who has just punched someone in the face then you stand a pretty good chance of remaining. Avoid this dump at all costs, even the prospect of a late drink does not lure me back to this dump.

the licensee is a very pleasent fellow. baldy who looks is too. well sometimes! the fire alarm went off once and i nearly lost my drink. i think the australian looking barman took it. another man behind the bar likes to do tricks with bottles but they nearly cost jiff his eye. you have to pay to go downstairs but you can sometimes sneak in. and you can get people's guiness.

I heard that one girl got so drunk she forgot her shoes! I was also told that the licensee took them shoes and gave them to his daughter.
It is a very good bar but they should stick to a closing time so you know to get as much drink in you before it close. And make your move on the men.

I have no doubt that this is the worst run pub in Norwich. Ladies toilets have more coke floating around than a Kate Moss party. Dispite doormen there seems to be no control on who comes in or how drunk they are. The owners are possiblly the most miserable people that I have ever met. Dirty squalid and often over crowded dump. Even if it is a late drink, give it a miss, Norwich's number one shit hole.

i like this bar coz it's not a pub, i found staff friendly and have been seated at the bar talking to other people. i liked it more when i used to go every week for raggie nights but things change and it good for a late drink.

Sad 'cos it could bea nice place but this is one of the biggest dives in Norwich. Most miserable bar staff, particuarly the owners I have ever seen. Never known people less suited to the job. Was in with a big crowd of girls the other day, rounds comming to 30 plus and not a smile of the owners, quite the reverse, they scowl at you like they don't want you there. Be fair the only reason we drink in there is because it's open late. Late drink fine but otherwise avoid the place.

Stand by my earlier review but have to agree with poppi about the closing times. We are not talking about a late drink or the old style lock in here, I mean a place should stay open for the hours stated or the hours it usually stays open. No landlords, don't start quoting me the law here, I know you can legally close anytime you want, I'm not saying you can't. I'm saying if someone gets a ten quid taxi from the other side of the city, or worse from out of town because you are known as being open til 2 or 1 or 12 or 11, the actual time is irrelevent. Only to find that you are closing early because, 'your tired' 'it's been a long day' 'you've had a row with your missus' well learn to live with it. We all get tired and have long days. The girl at the check out at Tesco can't knock off early 'cos it's been a long day. Start thinking about customer service, customers, remember those awkward little shits who actually pay the bills. C'mon whatever time you say you open til then open til that time.

An ok place to go if you want a later drink, saying that you cant plan your evening by this place by what time its open til. If the landlord is in a good mood say Tuesday night he will be open til two,if not closes just after one{even though you rang up that evening and he said two}Most the time he is a miserable bastard, but hes got a good juke box

Long L shaped upstairs bar. Reasonable decor but nothing special. No real ales but usual selection and that seems well kept. Usually seem to be understaffed with on eguy working his bollocks of behinfd the bar. Best juke box in Norwich, great selection. Downstairs bar with an odd dance area. Main reason peole use this pub is 'cos it's open til four at weekends but closes earlier in the week (but seldon before one). Seen a few little scuffles but the door staff (only on at weekends) have always sorted it out quickly and professionally.

Nothing special but where the hell else do you go if you want a drink at one in the morning and you don't want to pay 37,000 to get into Mercey.
