Not been in here since my previous comment, but was roped into attending a Xmas party of 10 this afternoon here, and to be honest I think the place has got worse. The service was awfully slow, food took about an hour to arrive, and a lot of it was cold or undercooked, and had to be sent back. Oddly the place wasn't even busy at lunchtime, but started to fill up as we were leaving, so why they take so long to sort out the food side of this Pub, is a mystery, as its been open about 18 months now. Not cheap either nowdays. Not many of us in the Party of 10 will be returning here again, thats a certainty. Shame really, as it COULD be a great place to eat and drink......

Seems to becoming a bit of a " Sports Pub " nowdays, called in here today ( Saturday ) and found the top end of the place full of people watching the Rugby, including the so called Landlord " Eric " who was too busy watching T.V. to actually serve anyone, and see people walking in, and then OUT of the Pub, which included us, and four other people standing at the Bar, waiting to get served, by the poor Girl on her own working behind the Bar......

Looks like its become a typical Brains managed House, now the novelty has worn off. Very interesting to see NOBODY at all eating here on a Saturday afternoon, as well.....

Last time we visit this place, which seems to be the general opinion of other people we spoke to afterwards.....

Shame really but thats what happens when you put a complacent Licensee in charge of a new Pub I suppose......

Well, I hate to write this, but this Pub has somehow managed to shoot itself in the foot. We called in here this afternoon, about 2pm ish, and there was just ONE person behind the Bar, no other staff working at all, and quite a few people wating to be served. We waited for about 10 minutes, along with a few other patient people to be served, then left, after being told there was a 45 minute wait for food......

The place was EMPTY, so how they can say there was such a wait, was beyond us. Oh well, another place to avoid I suppose if you want something to eat within a reasonable time ......

Shame really, as it had the potential to keep a good clientele base very happy.....

Still a nice place to have a drink though......

Called in here this afternoon, about 1:30pm ( Good Friday ) and was shocked to see how empty it was, only about 12 people in the whole Pub in fact, and no-one eating either. Very strange indeed, we had just the one drink and left, bit of a flat atmosphere all round, if the truth be know. Hope that was just a one off, as its a lovely place nowdays.........

Yes, I totally agree with the previous comment. We called in here today, and it was very pleasant indeed, bit of a wait for food, but we were told that before we ordered, which was fair, we had the choice to stay or go, so it seems this place is a 100% improvement, and its SO nice to see the place busy again. Well Done, S.A, Brains....

Having driven past this pub when it was the spinning wheel - not daring to venture in because it looked so rough I can now say since it's dramatic makeover we have visited it several times in the last few weeks and found it to be a really lovely pub with a pleasant atmosphere. The surroundings are smart, warm and comfortable, the clientele range from couples, families, and local groups of elderly ladies to a few elderly regular gentlemen. The staff are always smiling, helpful and polite - although most days they could do with an extra one or two because it's so busy. The food is excellent, everything we've tried so far has tasted home-made but be aware if you're watching your waistline the portions are huge . . . .
Well done Brains you've made a silk purse out of a sow's ear!

Very pleasing transformation with a middle class clientele.Well kept and reasonably priced Brains beer.Service friendly if a little sluggish at times.

Now re-opened and called " The Hen Dderwen ".....Very smart indeed, and a complete transformation of this Pub, could become very popular as it is right in the middle of a big estate. Prices seem reasonable too. Well worth a look folks, if you are passing.......

Drove past here on Saturday, and it looks absolutely stunning in its new guise. Got to give S.A.Brain a massive amount of credit for this transfomation. Hopefully it will take off, as soon as possible, don't know when the opening date is yet, though......

Agreed. Anything Brains do will be an improvement.

Closed down at the moment, but S.A.Brain are spending a lot of money on a major refurb here. Lets hope its better than it was before......

A 1960s monstrosity in the middle of a council estate. Surprised it gets a mention at all.
