Tim Bobbin, Urmstonback to pub details please note - reviews on this site are purely the opinion of site visitors, so don't take them too seriously.
It must be around 15 years since I was last in the Tim Bobbin, and realising that makes me feel rather old. However after a visit to the Steamhouse, I thought I would pay a revisit. 12 pumps across 3 banks, although sadly the third bank was all off (though not labelled as "coming soon") which was a bit disappointing as there was a porter on there I fancied trying. That left the choice of the Wetherspoons usuals (Doom Bar, Abbot Ale, etc), Dizzy Blonde, and a couple of others that looked a bit more promising. I went for the Pigswill by Stonehenge which was OK, neither offensive nor remarkable. Had I accepted the offer of a taster, I may have gone for something else. Anyway despite this, service was friendly, there was an initial delay where the bar was unstaffed, but the barmaid appeared and apologised for the wait and ran me through the available beers after my first choice proved to be unavailable. She advised the other beers should be on at some point over the weekend. My pint was £2.39.
The pub seemed a bit loud and lively on my Friday lunch time visit but not really that busy with plenty of space and empty tables. I would be tempted to give go again when next in Urmston.

OK this is a pleasant enough JDW pub.
In here last Saturday early afternoon.
They have 12 hand pull but today they have only ONE guest ale on.
This is very poor and I have never known that before in a JDW pub.
The usual Ruddles/Abbott/Doom Bar are available and that’s it.
Three of the pumps have cider clips on when all the cider comes out of a BOX.
Good job I am only visiting to see a game at the footy club so I will not have to come here again.

Pleasant enough Wetherspoons with efficient service and well-kept ale on my early-afternoon visit. 7/10

Beer quality good as is usually the case for this local Spoons pub. Not disappointed.

First time in here, not many people in at all, for a saturday afternoon the place was empty, still the service was woeful, the girl behind the bar was more interested in chatting to regulars than doing her job, the toilets were not up to scratch, rather messy and needed seeing to, the beer, Mordues Oatmeal Stout was though kept in good condition. New management seem to be doing a decent job. Good selection of Cask Ales. Could do with a lick of paint but it's headed in the right direction =)

Who gives a shit what this used to be, IT'S A WETHERSPOONS NOW!!!! Why go in here if you want good service? Stop being tight fisted and go somewhere a bit more expensive that is half decent you idiots.

happywanderer is perhaps right, maybe the shift manager at the time of his visit requires urgent redeployment, but the main cause of his displeasure is that this is yet another far-too-popular Wetherspoons, I often wait up to 10 minutes before being served, and the staff is often insufficient for the demand presenting.
Yes Stretfordlad, it was formerly a showroom, as I recall NorWEB, electric, not gas, but I could be mistaken. If you listen to the accents, particularly on Saturday night, you will realise many Liverpudlians have travelled by train (almost thirty miles) because they can get a side range of drinks at far lower prices than at home and stagger to catch a train home after half past eleven.

I think they should sack whoever runs this pub,took the family in had to clear a table myself then asked to have the table wiped because it was so messy a young girl got a cold wet cloth and couldnt even wipe it properly,so did it myself.However when finally sat down picked up a menu and that too was filthy,so even though i was starvin got up and left....went in the blue raj next door for a curry,it was lovely,nice price too
