Elderly barman please note, these days when a couple come to the bar it is good manners to speak to them both, and not ignore the woman, especially if she is the one with her purse in her hand!

Most of the specials on the menu were off, the aged couples "enjoying" the set price menu chewed glumly and my meal appeared garnished with a piece of dead parsley. Only visited because my family once ran it...aunt Annie will be spinning in her grave.

Couldn't fault the young girl waitressing though, the only bit of sparkle in the place.

just had a meal at the windmill first impressions of the pub is that the outside and gardens are very well kept with a play area for the children
inside although the decor may seem a bit dated it was very clean and tidy the staff were very friendly polite and helpful
food was ordered from both the standard menu and the chefs specials board as well as the chef cooking something for the children
the wait for the food wasn't long and when it arrived it looked as good as it sounded on the menu and tasted even better
the restaurant serves traditional food such as shepherds pie and cod and chips as well as more adventurous dishes such as the wild rabbit pie which i opted for it tasted superb
i would definitely recommend the windmill to friends and family it cost 62 for four adults and two kids to have two courses it would well be worth the drive from london again i cannot understand why they never had people queuing out the door to eat here

Stopped for lunch at the Windmill as the pub appears so attractive from the outside. Inside was spotless and tidy and we were really looking forward to lunch. We orderered a two course lunch each and had to wait some while before it turned up. The baked potatoes were underdone, the Yorkshire pudding overdone and the portions very small. Considering this was served as an individual meal and therefore with the corresponding attention when cooked and served it did not compare well in quality with the carvery market where you can also eat as much as you like. Very disappointed and will be looking elsewhere for regular meals out.

I go here once a week. Bazz and Annette used to run this boozer and did a fine job of it for many years. Occasionally a 'gamekeeper' would approach Bazz at the bar and over a pint, open his coat to expose a brace of pheasants. Some money changed hands discretely and they were on the menu shortly afterward. They left three or four years back and the new owner is still trying his best to make a go of it. The bar staff are kids, doing their best. On the positive side, the excellent chef that used to work in the Seaview (East Preston) is now doing the cooking. I was there last night and ordered some pork ribs from the restaurant: the rack was over a foot long under BBQ sauce with chips and salad, 9 so good value. Garden is big and a sun-trap until around early evening. There are two bars, the noisy one with TV/Jukebox/Bar-billiards/etc and the (overly small) one that has a few tables around a real blazing fire in the winter. Real ales are on offer as well as all the usual stuff.

Years ago this pub was run by Keith and Jean Tucker and it was great. Now what a dump. Sirly staff and rotten food at restaurant prices. My advice to all is to avoid it like the plague. There are plenty of better pubs very near. Use them.

great beer and selection of ale.nice large garden which is a pleasure to drink in. pub is a bit small and has always tended to be a bit cliquey.

Having been regulars at the windmill for many years my wife and I stopped using the pub after the food went downhill and a disagreement with the previous management. After hearing new management had taken over we decided to give it another try. The same very good bar staff were still working and were pleased to see us,good start, downhill from there. New couple in resturant very curt. Starter wife s mushrooms still cold in middle{microwave?} my fan of melon very small. Main course wife had seafood pasta, should have been called prawn pasta no other seafood. I had Chicken breast in gravy with veg, one and a half new potatoes a carrot and a sprigg of cauliflower one glass of wine ,one beer 35. left pub hungry and skint. Wont be eating there again

Forgot to mention the food is awful. Microwaved pastry, tiny portions, bad presentation. An overall flop.

Not half as nice since Barry and Annette left and the new - fake - manager took over.

It's a sad day when all has been jolly and happy for years and then new staff come in and upset the staff that were already there. Half of the originals will be gone before Xmas at this rate.

The manager is very creepy and a little too eager to please, you get the feeling that he's really trying just a bit too hard.

Shame really seeing as it's friendly and decent and the beer is kept well. Customers leaving in their droves though.

Opps! Sorry, I forgot to also mention that it very nice to be able to dine without having a smokey atmosphere. It was a welcome change to get home and not feel the need to rush to change in to clean clothes!

Saw the other reviews and thought it sounded worth a visit. I'd agree that it is nice and clean and that the staff were friendly. The garden is also very nice, with a nice climbing frame for the children. However, both my wife and I were somewhat underwhelmed by the food. What we had was nice enough, if rather limited in portion size. The menu was a rather strange mix of dishes, without much thought for those people with either fussy tastes or delicate constitutions. Food was nice and hot, with clean cutlery - not something that you always get in some places. I did find it rather frustrating though that, although they claim food is freshly prepared, you couldn't order something to be made plainly, i.e. a plain piece of chicken or salmon, without it being coated in various sauces containing onion or garlic. It's time that pubs and restaurants realised that not everyone likes to have their food covered in these ingredients. In fact, I would argue that their overuse in cuisine is simply a sign of either lazy cooking or poor quality ingredients; otherwise, why not let the delicate flavours of quality, fresh produce shine through?

In summary: pleasant and friendly staff, clean and quite spacious dining area, good garden, but disappointing food choices and portion sizes.

Great Pub and the added bonus of it being non smoking means you dont stink when you come out! Food is very good and although we had to wait 30 mins, we were informed of this fact before being seated. Friendly bar staff.

Had a quick pint on my way to Wick footy at about 18:30.
No atmosphere (well it was early I suppose ...) and the barman seemed quite grumpy.
Good selection of ales (four pumps). I had a pint of "Strongs" (they also had an Arundel beer on as well as two commoners).
Important to note that this is a NON-SMOKING pub. If you want to light up you'll have to go out the back where there's several tables on a patio adjacent to the car park.

For my money, the best pub in the Littlehampton area. Decor is very dated but it's as clean and friendly as you could wish for. Tuesday night quiz is a hoot with backwards bingo and free snacks between rounds.

Fantastic pub. Friendly, great food and the landlord keeps the drinks pristine. Really nice comfy place.

Absolutely lovely. Good food, well kept ales and really friendly atmosphere. Quiz on Tuesdays, New Years party, Xmas menus, very large beer garden. Family friendly.
