Good choice of local ales, well kept. Carvery is OK, nothing special. Good beer though.

Stopped for a pint whilst on a bike ride around the peak recently. Great beer, from a choice of four real ales I think it was, inc a couple I'd not come across before. What particularly impresses me is this was probably the fourth time we've stopped here over the last couple of years and it's been this good every time.

Perfectly agreeable country pub doing a bit of food, while keeping their drinkers. Interior is a tad boring and uniform, but the charming landlady and friendly locals more than compensate. Well worth stopping by for a pint or two.

Good beer with a choice of three or four ales. Didn't try the food, but the menu looked interesting. Pub is nicely done up inside and has a pleasant outdoor seating area. Very good all round and friendly welcome too.

Nice pub good beer ( although always changing) & reasonable food (with a menu that doesn't change that often) worth a try

Another new regime here and recently refurbished throughout - still a smell of fresh paint. Very decent range of well-kept local ales. Very quiet on our visit, but nonetheless had to wait a little while to be served as the one barman was "faffing" around with a table of diners taking their order at the table, running through to the kitchen and then re-appearing to serve us. Not a big problem, though, but will be interested to return again to see how they cope with a rush of more than four people...

Pub was taken over by new owners in Spring 2008 & they totally gutted it and refurbished it from top to bottom. It's now a lovely place, with excellent food & very warm welcome. Tim Taylor's Landlord & Marston's Pedigree on draught
Highly recommended - in fact I've decided we're having our company's Christmas dinner there this year.

Waited over 30 mins for a cup of tea. Appeared to be only one person serving/cooking/at bar. Whe a member of our party asked how long we would have to wait for our drinks, she was chased out of the pub by the landlord, screaming at her to "Stick it up your a**e". Place was filthy, and people were complaining in the carpark about lousy food, even worse service. Very nasty pub - avoid.

Visited 15 September 2007 for lunch. Food was just on ok line. Problem is rather with the cleanliness of the place. Our cutlery and glasses (not the ones that they served drinks but those empty wineglasses that they left on our table for all the time) are dirty, and table cloths and napkins have not been washed after the previous use. Place was dusty, too. Avoid, if you can.

Superb food - all fresh local produce. Malt whiskies that you will never see anywhere else. A friendly pub you just have to keep going back to.
