CLOSED AND UP FOR SALE AS A SHOP OR RESTAURANT

Rumoured to about to be taken over by property developers. I think you can guess the fate that will then befall this nice building! One less pub in the area....hmmmmmm...
misfithound - 4 Feb 2011 16:19
Changing hands soon
wrinkley - 6 Jan 2011 00:42
Not most exciting pub in Farnham, but ok.
Passing_By - 11 Jul 2010 18:33
This pub is certainly on the way back up, new staff are friendly and are trying hard to turn the place around.

incidently:- bonkersbarfly and zippy155 is the same person, infact he is Stewart Manchester the Old Seven Stars Manager who was sentanced to prison for 6 months for fracturing the face of a special needs person while out of his face on the white powder he used to sell in the pub!
read his reveiws on the pub, lol.
scotishborders - 27 Apr 2010 19:25
not slagging the healys off-simply just stating a fact-they are no longer anything to do with the pub!!
manc1111 - 26 Jan 2010 01:00
Did you bourt the lease did you. Get on with what you are trying to do and stop slagging the Healys off. You will soon learn little boy.
Theobserver - 12 Jan 2010 16:51
THE HEALY GROUP NO LONGER HAVE ANYTHING TO WITH THIS PUB!!!!!!
THE LEASE HAS BEEN BOURT FROM THEM (THIS WILL MAKE A LOT OF CUSTOMERS HAPPY)
manc1111 - 6 Jan 2010 01:51
this pub goes from bad to worse is the fat family running it
sue911 - 1 Sep 2009 18:28
How many more times is Sue going to send a review in for her own pub. How pathetic! All in bold caps to, just shows her lack of intelligence. How come there is suddenly so much money being spent? Lovely pub, lovely area just owned by dishonest pikeys.
thetruthatlast - 11 Aug 2009 01:33
I think people like 'bonkerbarfly' should really get over themselves. Constructive criticism is always a good idea, whereas pursuing personal vendettas is irrelevant and frankly childish. Lets not forget that the wonderful 'Stuart' got sent to prison for beating up a disabled person. A fine pillar of the community I'm sure.

For all those that actually have interest in good beer, good food and a pleasant evening it is well worth visiting, to try it once at least.

The beer lines are cleanied at least once a week as I have benfitted from half price beer due to the line clean, furthermore according to their friendly barman, Rob, new lines have recently been installed.

I for one am a fan, obivously not every pub will be to everyone's taste but at least this one is clean!
shabba100 - 6 Aug 2009 21:29
Face it, the best this pub has seen in recent years was when Stuart ran the place. Great bands, great people, great atmosphere.

Visited the Stars recently having been abroad for a couple of years and my god, what a hole. About as atmospheric and inviting as the Redgrave Centre. Actually the rats in the Redgrave centre are probably more sociable than some of the utter dregs that drink in the Stars. Beer lines seriously need a clean too. Just ocasionally you know. It does help.

AVOID at all costs. (especially if a certain fat family happen to be there)

There are FAR better places to drink in Farnham, some of which are within a 5 minute walk of this dump.
BonkersBarfly - 3 Aug 2009 15:18
WENT TO THEIR FIRST OPEN MIC NITE BRILL GREAT ATMOSPHERE NOT BAD TURNOUT CONSIDERING THE DOWNPOUR KEEP IT UP YOUR OBVIOUSLY ON THE RIGHT ROAD OF BRINGING THIS PUB BACK TO LIFE
sue911 - 30 Jul 2009 15:18
Bit surprised by your comments Graciemay. You wouldnt be a major stakeholder in the marlborough by any chance. A proper advert would be alot more effectiev rather then bad mouthing other pubs.

The pub is starting to look really well again and the improvement made is very noticeable. The new mamangeress is really nice but wont tolerate any one who she feels is going to upset any customers or staff. i must admit that i have an interest in the pub but honestly feel that it has turned a corner and am trying to be un-biased. Food is good and fairly priced. No sky is a drawback but not all pubs can have afford it especially considering that the pub has suffered so much in previous years from changes of management and the recession. It is still there and improving which is uncommon these days with 50 pubs closing a week so it cant be doing everything wrong Gracie. Farnham needs its businesses to survive so negative comments that are untrue dont help no one.
Theobserver - 6 Jul 2009 16:44
The sort of pub you go to if your banned from every other pub in farnham.
Always empty, no sky t.v, no personalty from bar staff. cold pub with no life or soul. don't waste your time stopping by keep walking and 4 minutes up the road the marlbrough will b full of life, atmosphere and always got great entertainment.
graciemay - 8 Jun 2009 14:38

sue911 - 21 May 2009 20:53
The nut house of Farnham.....avoid.
getmeonein - 27 Feb 2009 16:01
what the heck is happening to this place just when it had all changed and was under new ownership (louise sold it after 5mins - no loss there sorry louise) and the new people turned it around and it changed into a safe place with funny entertainment every weekend and it was a great place to go all clean with chatty staff and high st service standards, now apart from marlbrough head bands theres no place for entertainemnt (too rough in there now though), then from nowhere the scum is back in the place again, without question the madest pub in the uk one second its up then its through the floor???????? AVOID (again!) is this place owned by a brewery or what something should be done
ukvenues - 15 Oct 2008 16:49
WHAT DO YOU REGULARS WANT IN THIS FANTASTIC LITTLE PUB, ITS GOT A GREAT GARDEN DO YOU WANT BBQS, IN THE SUMMER NIGHTS, WHAT SORT OF ENTERTAINMENT DO YOU WANT ??? PLEASE LET ME KNOW.
texan - 20 Jun 2008 15:09
Well I thought Sam and Louis were doing a great job with the Seven Stars; they mangaged to kick out all the crack heads, chavs and general idiots, but alas the owners have clearly decided that whatever anyone does with this pub isn't good enough for them.
Fill it full of chavs and troubles makers - no you're out.
Kick the trouble out and turn it into a nice pub with good food and nice staff - no you're still out.
What exactly are the owners looking to achieve here because frankly I think it's on the up now and it's not likely to get any better now they are getting rid of the best thing that's happened there for a long time.
I myself, along with the majority of the other regulars will sorely miss it and are not looking forward to finding somewhere new to spend our money!
Beanie88 - 16 Jun 2008 00:47
Under new ownership again. Sam and Louis are trying to bring this back up to a nice pub. Have just added their new food menu which I have already sampled most of and the food is fantastic. It has a pool table, dart board, patio, garden and is definately looking up!! The bar staff are great, friendly and chatty (me being one of the barmaids, I have to say that). But come and check it out. You could be pleasantly surprised!!!
P.S. They now also do free texas hold'em poker on a thursday night beginning at 7.30. Check it out!!!
blaze777 - 17 May 2008 22:50
New managers in the 7 stars. Please dont make stupid comments that the owner bets the takings on the horses.I dont think the buisness would last very long.
healy7browning - 23 Feb 2008 07:27
What happened to Stuart? I hear the owner moved him as the owner allegedly was spending the takings (WITHOUT PAYING TAX!) on the horses, then we hear Stuart has been set up by a local family(!) NAMES TO FOLLOW who have allegedly paid various witnesses to get him into trouble (IS THAT AGAINST THE LAW WE THINK SO). Not a good venue!
Zippy155 - 6 Feb 2008 21:25
I went here on Friday night for the karaoke evening. The pub atmosphere is friendly, with customers having a good evening. Unfortunately, I was there when the landlord was drunk and in not so friendly mood to bar staff. (Who were doing an excellent job, given the circumstances.)The verbal bullying was itself extemely nasty. I asked a regular about this and was told that the turnover of bar staff is very high, usually due to this kind of outburst. Would have been a really good evening if it hadn't been for that, couldn't fault anything else really.
anonymous - 11 Jun 2007 09:48
Music great, food was great, not good it you like a clean pub with toilet paper available.
Some of the staff are foul mouthed and loud, there is no quiet drink on certain evenings in the week, and can be full of youngsters, including my 15 year old neice!!!!
Farnham has seen this pub have better times.
anonymous - 20 May 2007 19:09
I would really give this one ago, ok at times it can be loud but landlord really seems to be try and is a very nice bloke, good to see ale slowly making its way back in here, Lovly pint of Triple FFF Moondance when i visited. Roy with karaoke and Micky Kemp's band this bloke know what entertainment people like, Good on you keep up the good work.
BryanBlencowe - 6 Mar 2007 11:38
Looks like another good weekend ahead at the Stars !!!!!

Karaoke this friday, 22nd. Always good for a laff and then Sat they got the Southside Blues Band playing. Think it was back in May that they last played and were fantastic !!!! Get yerselves down there for it ! Gonna be great !
anonymous - 18 Sep 2006 14:51
OK, OK, so after seeing all the Harleys parked there recently I called in; WOW who were the band? "Purple Zepplins" I stayed, OK only one Harley but it was a bit wet out there that night BUT......the band..great or what; close your eyes and you could be listening to the real thing...... Looking forward to the 25th November! You just cannot beat live music!
Zippy155 - 22 Aug 2006 21:30
Well !!!!!!

Friday 18th August !!! What a FANTASTIC night !
The Hi Watts and their mix of great music from The Who, The Jam and SOOOOO much more !!!!!! The place was buzzing with an electric atmos that was simply incredible ! Packed with people ALL having a really good, fun night, as it should be. OK, you could just get to the bar but given just HOW busy it was those guys did a superb job behind the bar 10/10 ! Busiest pub in town that night ? Yeah, I reckon so !!!!!

AND Sat 12th............just where DID you find those Purple Zeppelins from ??? Mindblowingly good ! AS a HUGE fan of Led Zep I was blown away with how they played ! Cant wait for November (25th I think) AND New Years Eve ! What a coup !!!!!!!

Stu REALLY has turned this place around and for that he should be really proud. He seems to have a great team who actually ENJOY working !
anonymous - 20 Aug 2006 16:05
Last weekend @ The Stars: Karaoke friday night, as hilarious as normal. Then the Purple Zeppelins played on Saturday night... crowd wasn't too big, but good vibe. Crowd was slightly older than the Saturday night norm. Coming up this weekend - two bands - Friday The HiWatts and Saturday Vic Cracknell.

Anyone know any good bands who want to play at the Stars in Sept?
narcheska - 16 Aug 2006 18:25
The Stars is definitely moving in the right direction. The Live music is starting to happen now too. Two Fingers of Firewater are playing Saturday August 5th. Theyll do a bit of blues and folk and some sixties stuff too. If anyone saw Redlands Palamino Company play The Lamb in May and liked what they heard then check it out on Saturday night- should be a good one.
roman08 - 31 Jul 2006 22:38
Since my last review on the Seven Stars I went past it the other day and there must have been about 20 harley davidsons in the Car park, all the riders having great fun it seems!

Well done for attracting such worthy machinery, Alfas, Ferraris and now Harleys.!!!
Zippy155 - 29 Jul 2006 12:29
I agree with the comment made by Bonkers, the previous comments are not fair on Stu or the team. It was a master stroke putting the Italian flag out when they (the Italians not Stu) reached the quarter finals, a gamble that, well paid off, who won the World Cup then? Ok TV is on and you buy a drink and watch TV for sure, obviously no friends to talk to then!!!!! Its like anything else in this Country you get out what you put in, if you want to speak to someone say hello and the team will help you.

Keep up the good work Stu.
Zippy155 - 21 Jul 2006 11:38
Trouble is not 'usual' in the vast majority of Farnham pubs. Losing the St George's flags that adorn the pub (always a handy warning of white van man haunts) might help it look a little less intimidating.

Yes, if you want to go and watch sports then the 'Stars' is an option. It's still a pretty sterile place with little character. It's better then it was but that is not that difficult.
misfithound - 10 Apr 2006 14:27
I don't really think these other comments are fair on the current manager and his crew.

Stu has made the place a much more friendly place to spend the evening with mates and not have to worry about being involved in any fights or problems. Chav element has gone and there is rarely, if ANY trouble at all (unusual for Farnham!). The food is always good and totally tasty, esp the Sunday roasts ! YUM !!!

There's a good buzz about the place now, sadly lacking with some of the previous managers. Karaoke is on every other Friday and he's also lining up live music, which is what we as customers were asking for ! We had a GREAT time watching the Six Nations at the Stars, while at the other end of the pub he was able to show the footy to those who prefer their balls round ! He's mad on Motor RAcing and will be showing the Grand Prix and other motorsport stuff which is great news for us fans of it!

We also had a FANTASTIC few evenings in there over this weekend, and with what he's going to be doing with the front and rear areas for the Summer will be superb!

If you wanbt the BEST service in town, it's the "New" (and much improved) Seven Stars.

Keep up the good work Stu and Mags !!!
BonkersBarfly - 2 Apr 2006 18:50
used to be a great traditional town centre pub. Run down by successive bad landlords and owners. Eventually hit by the inevitable 'refurbishment'. Just resulted in attracting undesirables and barely legals..if you know what I mean?!

They have, to their credit, tried to sort out the problem but there is little atmosphere or incentive to go to the place. An all too common story of how to knacker a decent boozer.
misfithound - 8 Mar 2006 17:58
If Merv Hughes walks into this pub the next time England are playing the Ozzies at cricket, he'll be about as popular as a ginger haired stepson.
yorts - 16 Feb 2006 18:19
This is a place where you order the drink and watch the TV. Doesn't have much character, basically a drinks shop.

Will2 - 13 Feb 2006 17:09
Well if you want a quiet drink this is the place to come! As empty a pub as you will find!
aleman - 13 Feb 2006 00:29
This place has gone really downhill in the past few months. Clearly the owners have no respect for their locals. What used to be a nice friendly, welcoming environment, is now a cold and hostile pub. The pub is now over 21's(not all bad), but I fear this will also be the demise of this establishment, coupled with the fact they have now cancelled Karaoke which always guranteed a fun evening. RIP The Seven Stars.
anonymous - 10 Dec 2005 13:38
has been refurbished! all open plan at the front. good selection of lager with the addition of heinakken. new man behind the bar is Martin who always has a smile on his face! great pub!
seanyoo - 26 Sep 2005 12:09
This rather strange place has a rather anonymous, barn like atmosphere, with most people sitting in corners minding there own business. No conversation guaranteed! The bar staff seem to greet you in a fashion only seen in a village pub- a stare of "who are you" flashes on their face, so relatives and friends only!
ginmarinthedon - 14 Feb 2005 20:21
