A nice pub if you appreciate a place which allows the regulars and the bouncer to physically assault you in a totally unprovoked attack, break your glasses and throw you out into the street simply because you aren't a local and just there for a reunion with friends and minding your own business. Disgusting place, very poor choice of beers and certainly the sort of pub that needs to be closed down.

Snotty staff. Not at all welcoming (I'm a Londoner and a lot more local than the staff, but was treated like a foreign tourist). Couldn't think how saying 'a pint of bitter' needed to be translated! Totally empty on Saturdays.

Not as good as it used to be. Staff a little off hand. Good do better. Shame really.

Nice pub with a good mix of locals, visitors and doctor types from St Thomas'. Unspoilt charm with friendly staff and decent beers.

Not bad but not too remarkable either. It has an 'unspoilt' feel to it and a certain old-tyme quirkiness but nothing you'd call charm. Went on a Friday and it wasn't too busy.

Qite a good pub, this and The Ship on Kennington Road, are the two remaing good run pubs around Kennington, both have pool tables, good tv and friendly staff.

A decent, well run, unpretentious pub.
Decent food and a well-stocked bar.

Decent infrastructure belies the fact that this pub lacks a certain amount of charm - but then, that could just be the effect the office workers who congregate on a Friday evening have on the place. No, this place is really alright with a slightly left of field layout, low ceilings and decent light levels your instantly taken with the job of deciding where you are going to take your seat(always a good thing). As to when is best to come I'm as yet unsure but as long as the suits are long gone you should be in for an decent time.
Good for: I'm going for daytime afternoon and late evening.

Thank God!! Going around this area I was greeted with wine bar after wine bar and a last I had found a traditional pub. Well 2 traditional pubs actually!! The ladies toilets were spotless and the service was pretty good too. Couldnt really knock this place, but my only 2 disappointments were (A) with a fantastic juke box does that television really need to be on?? (B)and your GUINNESS??? a big no thank you from me....
Over all I like this place its traditional homely and the crowd are are a friendly bunch
