Shame it's shut. I used to go up there to see the bands and had some excellent nights. Nice if overpriced real ales. Shortly to be another block of flats I guess...

Seems to be boarded up, which means that there must be one Lottery-funded Pub Looney (every pub of this ilk has to have one) on the loose in Barnet somewhere.
Horrid pub so no great loss.

Worth checking out if you live locally when there is a band on as there are very few decent venues for live music in this neck of the woods.
Once went in here for a drink on a non-gig night though and wouldn't recommend it. Downstairs bar is like a ghost town and has a shabby but charming quality to it, but beer was nothing to write home about. Service was friendly but, considering the very low volume of customers, also painfully slow. Music was good in the background, but not a lot of atmosphere or entertainment to commend it and for a night's drinking there are better pubs nearby.

Used to be a very nasty place to go. Safer now because there's hardly anyone ever in the place.
On the ales they cant sell enough to keep it fresh.

I well remember when it was raided by about 50 policeman on a Saturday night in the days when it had customers. The sooner it's turned into something else the better.
