user reviews of the Three Tuns, Gateshead

please note - reviews on this site are purely the opinion of site visitors, so don't take them too seriously.

Paid a visit a few weeks back when staying in Gateshead. The Low Fell area seems to be suffering from a bit of a real ale drought. Only two pumps at the bar - Blonde Star by Anarchy (the one I went for at £3.10 or £3.20) and Jaipur by Thornbridge. I thought there may have been more pumps on the other side of the bar, but I don't recall seeing any when passing through to go to the gents.

This is definitely a music venue but also has a bit of an estate pub feel to it. There was an unplugged fridge randomly placed in the seating area, which intrigued me. The chap serving was fairly laid back but not unpleasant.

Wouldn't rush back but seems to be one of the few pubs in the area doing real ale.

I've witnessed the manager of the Three Tuns in Gateshead single out a man who was doing absolutely nothing wrong. The next minute you know he was jumped on by 4 guys and beaten up badly. The guys who attacked him fled the scene when the police arrived. Instead of giving they guy medical attention the victim was arrested shortly after the police spoke to the manager.

The pub if you can call it that smells of fecal matter and the manager isn't someone I'd want to do business with.

I note no reviews for 6 years, I wonder why. Could this be the answer, travelled from Carlisle based on an advert in N.E. Cheers magazine for Gateshead 4th International Pie Festival, and the Beer Festival ales.

Seems an OK pub but misleading customers like this is not only illegal but bad form. Sort yourselves out.

Went to the Tuns on Thursday 7th October. Great pub, fantastic, friendly atmosphere and 'live' band 'the Switch' were awesome.

Cheers

Went to the three tuns last night, what a awesome pub, I only wish other pubs were like this one, free live music 4 nights a week, nice one. Going back there to watch the football on the big screen. Keep up the good work chaps.
