please note - reviews on this site are purely the opinion of site visitors, so don't take them too seriously.

Since this is a wine bar it is perhaps not too surprising that it is not strong on real ale and perhaps should not have a place in the BITE guide. But since it is, I should record that it has changed management - a couple of years back, I think - and although it has lost a little of its former bohemian charm it is still an excellent oasis in the living Hell of Leicester Square. Whilst undeniably on the expensive side, it is still well worth a visit.

I visited here many, many moons ago with two mates and a gaggle of nurses on a dull old Sunday where top of the order was to snaffle one of Florences bitches and get off home with it. Well I got totalled on the wine for the savvy and my leg touched up a ferw times but no tremblers of any kind apart from the stiff bill price at the end and the fact that only so many wanted to pay it.
Yes, it has wine and some of it's decent but expensive generally. I'm not a connosieur of wine but am of nurses and after several jugs of the stuff had gone down then Hatty Jacques could have turned up and got a sniff. Not for real drinkers. It was day time and no real beer so not really appropriate or likely to mark high on an ale drinkers site. Probably would have scored more if the nurses had been a bit more free and easy with their time off shift.

Lovely little place, good selection of today's papers, nice bar to sit at, wine and cheese - yum, well worth a visit.

Sorry nobody's rated this place for a couple of years as it does deserve recognition as a quiet, well-run retreat from the Dante's Inferno that Leicester Square has become. rampantwurzel clearly does not know his claret from his "can-full-of-p*** with a top, mate" since the selection and quality of wine here is consistently good. Actually, the absence of reviews might be a good thing as it will keep the like of old wurzel away from the place!

Visited this bar last night and was slightly disappointed after reading great reviews on numerous sites. The wine we had was good and it was a quiet retreat from the throngs in Leicester Square, however it didn't have much character.

Oh dear. No people, it's not a 9. It's pretentious, post shopping/theatre dump. If it wasn't for the Brewmaster propping up the sh1t-o-meter this would be at the top with flies hovering over it and a broken toilet seat sticking out.

Yes, it has wine. Expensive and not very good wine. I'm not a connosieur but there are better places to go for wine. Perhaps Vinopolis? Perhaps the bar down near Charing Cross/Embankment which really is nice rather than this dump?

Anyway, strictly for bankers and their equivalent cockeny slang. Don't bother trying to tell me I'm wrong, because I might well be but reviews like this need balance not just the 'best mate of the bar-staff' writing in.

Great place to meet friends at the weekend as a warm up before some serious clubbing, food and wine - both excellent...recommend.

Fabulous underground wine bar with a nice gentle atmosphere that hasn't changed in years. As far as I know they don't do beer but don't let that put you off as they have an eclectic and informative wine list and decent grub.

When you just need to escape the hurly burly this is the place to go.
