I used to go to this pub some years ago and went for a quiet drink on Sunday.
The bar was really busy with diners and there was no seating, I spoke to the bar manager who let me sit in the back room which was empty apart from one other couple.

After a few minutes a very loud man appeared and demanded to know why we had switched his lamp off? The girlfriend crawled under the table and switched the plug on!
How rude we're thought

He then appeared and asked why we we not eating food?
I advised him we had been told we could sit in this room by the bar manager.
He informed me e was the owner and the bar manager was thick.
I advised he I would finish my drink and leave, the silly little man told me to go. The other couple shook their head in disbelief, one rude little man, I will never attend your pub again, if you treat people like this one day you will have no business left. Pathetic little individual .
The poor bar manager was given a telling off in front of customers and staff, shocking behaviour

i was really suprised when reading these comments about the pheasent , as i can only say whenever my family , myself, extended family, friends and myself have visited this resturant ,we have only ever had good food , good service , lovely staff and yes the car park is on the small side ..but hey thats life.
the whole family experience whenever we have been has always been accomodating and our children range from 7 to 13.
it is often our first choice of pub when wanting to eat out as a family and the vegetarian options are delicious and interesting.

Used to go to this pub years ago when it was very popular for food.
Things have changed.....
To say I was very disappointed is a bit of an underestimate.
The food across the menu was very expensive. Due to this fact I at least thought that it would be fresh. Unfortunately this was not the case.
I could bore you with all the facts that when gathered up this was an extremely poor meal. If you like soogy, watery, tasteless meals you are in for a treat.
Don't bother going. We were actually warned by someone who works with my wife but we ignored it. More fool us.
They probably don't care as they must be making money hand over fist.

I've been visiting this establishment for many years - since the days when it was called "The Half Moon" - and was a real country pub with lock-ins at the weekend (which gave rise to it's downfall, but that's an entirely different story!)- but I probably won't be doing so again.

There's nothing really "wrong", it just seems to be sloppily managed with the consequence that it has become just average and despite an extensive menu, there's nothing particularly special or enticing.

Although this is a free house, little effort appears to be being made to offer any variety in the beers on offer. What is on offer is well kept, so no complaints there.

If this was my old school report, it would say "could try harder"

Most of the above review is spot on. My wife and I travelled to this nice looking place on the way to Rugby on a Thursday evening and in hindsight, wished we'd carried on driving!!
Our table was looking straight down a corridor for the toilets and EVERY flush was audible.
The waitresses were the usual motley crew of 'local talent' from the surrounding villages who really couldn't be arsed.
Drinks were pricey as was the food which is prized as 'Home Cooking' but in reality is the usual rubbish from a frozen food company that is either microwaved or fried.
I certainly won't return

My previous report was removed for a personal attack on the landlord, so I am re-posting this report, being careful not to re-offend.
I visited this once great establishment and was very disappointed. The carpark was tiny with cars double parked. We parked in nearby All Saints Lane to avoid the shambles with diners having to leave a half eaten meal to move their car so someone could leave.
The food menu was good, but the wait to order was unacceptable and it was obvious that the Pheasant was either short staffed or cannot cope with a busy period.
Seeing cooks with dirty white jackets leaving the kitchen to use the customer tolets was not a good endorsement, but that aside, the food was acceptable.
No considerations for non-smokers was not good, and the waitresses were the usual mix of locals who really don't want to be there on a friday when they could beout with their mates...thats the impression we got.
I was in a filthy mood to begin with as we'd stopped at a nearby pub and my CD player was stolen from my car.
I would not recommend The Pheasant if you want to visit at a busy time, but its probably OK in the daytime when its a lot less busy
