user reviews of the Hog's Head, Sale

please note - reviews on this site are purely the opinion of site visitors, so don't take them too seriously.

Bar staff / bouncers can be idiotts to put it nicely! Apart from that, can be a good place to bob into on night out for a couple while passing.

Loads of live sport, and not just football which is good given Sale having the best rugby team in the UK(yes i know they play in Stockport). Staff are friendly, warm and welcoming. Atmosphere is good and management have worked hard to get of all the scum of Sale. Some still get through but you cant expect miracles given the way Sale is!!!

Everything is relative - as far as pubs in Sale goes the 'Hog Shed' is practically Eutopian when compared to the Met Bar and the Waterside.

The pub does get busy and it can take a while to get served, however, table service is very good.

It does attract a few idiots, but on the whole it's quite friendly, relaxed and comfortable.

If you are looking for table football, search elsewhere, as the table here needs more than just TLC, it's barely playable. The pool table's OK, considering the number of pints that no doubt get spilled on it each week.

This pub is the HQ for Sunday football league side AFC Sale Moor. The bar staff seem to have developed an unhealthy interest in these players and it is rumoured most of the team have had more than a drink off them. Drinks are expensive but the table service is top notch. However crisps are ridiculous at 70p per pack. A disgrace to the crisp industry.

It isnt as good as it was when it first opened. It attracs the wrong crowd yet thereisnt always trouble but you have to assume there could be! Prices are ridiculous! and there is a funny smell. staff are slow and dont know who they are supposed to serve next - i waited 20mins to get served then eft because i couldnt be ar5ed anymore!

Drinks are well over priced, full of under aged scallies, staff only serve their friends when you have been blatentely stood there for an hour. One Member of staff in particular i think his name is Sean - Who does he think he is gods gift - Far from it. Bad attitude a swine for servig his mates before others in general he is the biggest pratt and worst barman ever. However he got that job amazes me.

Door staff used to be really friendly they are now complete arses the only nice doormen in sale that are reasonable are at the Ransom i think people need to take a leaf out of their book

To sum it up in one word - crap. Drinks are far too expensive. Atmosphere is unfriendly and it get's too busy at the weekends. You're just waiting for trouble to start from the moment you enter this place. This establishment attracts the football hooligan type. Give it a wide berth if you want a trouble free night out.

Not very nice. Cold, empty and the drink left a lot to be desired.

Bit like a youth club these days, but not as many fights as most of the trouble makers drink in the Waterside now. Food pretty good, but the place has a funny smell about it....Be prepared to queue for 20 mins for a drink as sometimes staff can just serve their mates, most annoying thing though is last orders at 12 with NO drinking up time, you will be asked to leave at 12.02 so don't bother with the extra pint!!!

Excellent service. Good atmosphere and centrally located. Other pubs in the vicinity must have suffered since the refurb. Oh..just in case you need another reason to visit, the tastiest brunette in Manchester serves behind the bar - WOW.

Recently re-furnished it has become more popular.

Now has plenty of wooden seating and 2 Leather sofas, Wooden Floor, Large Bar, young and Friendly staff.

Doormen are very lovely middle-aged men (not your typical doormen, actually)

Toilets are downstairs and always clean.

Now has quite a few Plasma screens for the daily sport etc also has a games area at the back containing
 Giant Jenga (genga)
 Table Football
 Giant connect four
 Pool Table

Always busy on a Friday and Saturday night also has a licence till 12.00

Nice atmosphere

Serves food and decent priced Drinks.
